Looking To Start Making Plastics

Featured Replies

Hey All, A friend and I are looking to start making plastic worms on our own. I am looking for advice on a good quality "kit" to get us started. I am looking for one where we are able to create our own master mold. We were out on on the lake the other day and was not doing very well as far as catching fish goes. The heat of course was not helping matters any. We tried throwing everything we had in our tackle boxes at them with no luck at all. I have always been the type to come up with random baits that would work that the average fisher don't use on a regular basis. So I got out a 10" plastic worm and my handy dandy scissors. I then began to perform "surgery" on this worm carving out its body and tail. After about a half hour later I was finally done and started fishing with it in the same spots we previously were having no luck. Loh and behold I was catching fish after fish. I then made a few others since they were working and gave one to my friend who was also catching them. I attached a few of the fish that were caught.

What im looking for is a GOOD Quality plastic kit that would allow me to make my own custom mold.

Thanks All!

I just started making some molds out of Plaster of Paris.  Very easy and effective.  I would start with that as a beginner.

Yeah there are many tutorials on site and youtube about making your own mold from plaster of paris (POP).

Get a used microwave and a pyrex cup and melt some old plastics down and try that.

I make all of my molds from Bondo fiberglass resin.
