This rifle weighs in between 80-120lbs. The rounds average 40 dollars a piece. Said round produces around 32000 ft lbs of energy.

That's the best I can think of as far as hunting goes. Either that or shoot whales with it. Maybe lob shells at passing animals 10 miles away. Kind of like an artillery piece.

I'm just curious as to what the "sporting use" exception he received is for. I definitely understand lack of a practical application for it. Heavens knows I can't think of one.

I heard he received the sporting exemption from the ATF based on the limited production of the weapon, the weight of the gun, around 100lbs, and the cost associated with operating the gun.   It was determined to be a range queen for enthusiast.
