Berkley Realistix Sinking Minnow question

Featured Replies

Got a package of 5 baits in the mail today. These appear to be just like a normal stickbait, but you can see the inside of the bait(clear)

It looks as though there is a cylinderical weight in the center of the bait.

The bait, because of the weight, seems to be pretty stiff, almost like it has a backbone.

Has anyone else used these baits? Does this weight setup hinder the way these baits are rigged. Does this weight setup cause problems when setting the hook?

PowerBait Realistix Sinking Minnow:

The Berkley PowerBait Realistix Sinking Minnow is their new stick bait, but the company didn't just produce an imitation of the Senko. The Realistix Sinking Minnow is unique in that it features two impregnated non-lead weights inside the plastic. These two weights are strategically places to produce the perfect action when fished. Between the two weights there's a heavy monofilament line that connects the two and serves multiple purposes, one being that when you wacky rig the Minnow it won't tear apart like other stick baits would.

x1000 can't even figure out how they are still on the market. JMO

To answer the question. You pretty much have to wacky rig it between the weights or whatever the heck that junk is they stuck in it. T-rigging it like a senko is kinda worthless. The inserts get in the way of rigging it correctly and it also ruins any potential action that the bait may achieve.

I have actually caught some nice fish on them, wacky rigged and flipped beside standing trees. Definitely not my first choice but it has worked....

I bought a bag when they first came out, didn't care for the action and never used it again. I'm sure it will catch a few fish but in my opinion there are baits out there like the original Senko that are going to be much more productive.
