Can you expand on "much better than the Tournament Pro"? I haven't used a Team Gold but own a couple Tournament Pros. Never had a problem with the TP's but aren't against using a better reel either.

Thanks.

Kinda like compairing a Shimano Citica to a Cronarch, a much more solid and smoother feel!! I sold my Curados when I tried the Tournament, and  core and Chronarch when I got the TP, and think the Team or new Team Gold is far smoother and more solid feeling than they were.

the Lews TP is not $200 price point, as it can be had under $150...but it is still probably the best under $200.

if spending a full 2 hundo, you can look for a Lews TEAM reel.

I own several of the Chronarchs, and seviced the others, save the Lew's, so can't comment there, though I've casted them, and they work great. The Chronarch, Revo, and Lew's are all decent reels.  Pick what you like in your hands.  The Smokes....hmmm, not impressed, both by construction and performance.  Neither the 100 or 200 series performed well for me, even after tuning.

X2.  I've had a few Smokes come through the shop after loosing their initial smoothness and there's not much to be done about it that will last.

Capt Bob knows his Lews stuff for sure.

But I am with you I am perfectly happy with me TPs......the Team would have to Core"ish" for me to really think about stepping up

Thanks for the reply. Their website doesn't differentiate much between the two reels, besides price and color, which is why i asked.

Those that don't have both will tell you there is no difference just price. :rolleyes2:  Thise who have both and used them for a year or two realize the better tolerances make one heck of a difference!!! I like the look of the TP better, but can put up with the looks for the performance, I have not looked back since going to Lew's, and the more models I try, the more impressed I am. I used Shimano for years and think they are great reels, but in Low Profile baitcasting, I think Lew's matches anything they make with a reel of better quality for less money, only 2 years on the reels I have (9) but no letdowns or problems yet!  :thumbsup1:

Never owned a Lews product but have owned reels from the other 3 companies you mention, although not the models you listed. It's been my experience that Quantum is the easiest to deal with when ordering parts, if that matters to you.

I'd go with the quantum smoke or the Revo stx, both have yet to fail me.

My Revo STX (Gen 3) is being fished, my Shimano 50e is sitting at home.

i love the smoke !! its a great reel. as far as being not being  able to snag the fish out of muck, well ive never had a problem. last time i went out , it looked like the bass were wake boarding. its almost not fair to the bass .
