Replacement Handle For Curado E Series?

Recommended Posts

The grips on my Curado 200E7 have a little wobble on the handle, this is not the norm for Shimano reels and It just bothers me a bit, is there a way to either replace the factory handle or get an aftermarket handle?

Ok I found the factory replacement, but with that being discovered are there any better options?

Hawgtech makes a carbon-fiber handle for Shimano reels, for $80.  Not cheap, but it's lighter than the stock handle.

Another option would be to get a handle from another Shimano low-profile reel.  The G-series reel handles can be upgraded to four bearings total.  The nut retainer you have may not fit all Shimano handles, so that's something you'll want to check.  You can find Shimano handles here

Otherwise, this is what you're looking at:  Japan Tackle.  They ain't cheap, but there's not much more to be desired in the looks department.  Though for some of those prices you could buy a new Chronarch E…  :surprised:

BassZone and Semper Fi both make fairly inexpensive carbon fiber handles you can purchase for 50-60 bucks. You will need to obtain handle knobs and bearings (both can be purchased from T.Trap). Another nice upgrade would be the handle from a Core 100 MG7.

All seems to expensive for me, I appreciate it but can't justify spending that much on a handle.

Wish I could see it, school wifi blocks nearly everything.

I can get the factory replacement for 30.

Cost can be a prohibitive factor with aftermarket handles.  Since Shimano handles don't fit any other brands and vice-versa, you're stuck with Shimano factory handles or expensive aftermarket options.

That Semper-Fi Tackle handle is a stunner.  Nice price, too.

I have both a Core 50 and Core 100 handles that I would sell for $30 apiece.

Shipping included, PayPal only.

Take them apart and see why they are loose

That's what I was thinking, too. These shouldn't wear out. I've got a Curado E handle on my Calcutta for swimbaits, and it see quite a bit of heavy use, and shows no sign of excessive wear. Use a paper clip or bent t-pin inserted into the hole in the knob center caps, and pull them off. Then you'll need a flat head screw driver to get the retaining nut/bush off. If it's a right hand model, I think the threads are reverse thread. From there, it should be easy to determine if it just needs tightening, or what's worn out.
