What are a good pair of polarized glasses for fishing? I don't want to spend too much money but I want a good pair of polarized glasses. thx

I might pick this. What color works best? The way it look in the store and on the water are very different...

I have the tortoise shell frame with copper lens, though its more like in the middle of copper and amber which is better in lower light

i like my oakley gascans, stylish enough to wear all the time. they can be had for a little over 100

Depends how much you are looking to spend! I have a pair of Oakley's and I just received a pair of Amphibia 2112's that I ordered. Both were less than $200.

I tried a pair of the berkleys and think I got a bad pair. Something must have been wrong with one of lenses because my eyes got bugged out a massive headache followed. Strike King has some new ones out that are around $40 and look promising .

That is what happnes with cheaper sunglasses.  The distortion in the lens can cause your eyes to work overtime.  Now not all pairs will have the problem but you see it more often in the lower price points.

 

I would pick up a quality pair of Costa or Smith sunglasses.  If you look at www.sierratradingpost.com they always have sunglasses in there and for great prices.

I wear costa del mar with 580 lens I have three different pairs with different colors depending on water clarity and color there about 220 for the 580 lens and150 for 400 lens know the strike king s11 is what alot of my buddies wear and for 30 bucks I say there the best bangfor the buck. But if you want to drop the money can't beat a set of blue or green lens costa del mars

Eye Surrender, seriously, these are as good as you wilkl get with a $20 lifetime replacement and the come with a cleaning cloth and hard case for $59.99. I just had a pair replaced that I got 6 years ago, the rubber backs came off and at the time the replacement was $10 and they honored it plus the glasses are now ten times better which I didn't think was possible. I have had both Cost and Maui Jim and they are good glasses but they use a glass lens and you tend to feel them after a bit, TAC lenses have a little less optical quality than glass but they are shatter proof and they are light, I forget I have the glasses on until I go into a dark room. Try them out, I'm glad I did.

I've been looking into this some of late but am more limited than many.  I wear glasses that have transition lenses which are fine for outdoor activities but aren't polarized for fishing and are useless for driving, not to mention that the coating starts to wear off around 1 yr in and leaves funny spotting in the visual field.

 

I refuse to wear glasses that go over the top, think of any geriatric you've seen walking or driving around with these and you'll know why.

 

I decided for $15 I'd give a pair of the clip on variety a try for now...and went with the GRAY tint because research told me it was more versatile and a bit better in bright sunlight, which is what I find myself having for opportunities more often than not.  The browns/ambers were meant more for overcast conditions, the yellow for low light conditions.  They happened to have some virtually the same tint/shape as my glasses so it doesn't really look all that cumbersome but not sold on the long term use of them...I got mine at Walgreens, Solar Shield brand.

I got a pair of Berkelys at walmart for about 12 bucks. amber lens. have worked great for the last 9 months. And if I lose or break them its no big deal.

I found some on clearance at Wal-Mart a while back I think they were strike kings.

I have always been a "cheap" sunglasses kind of guy. I have lost way too many in the water, or stepped on them, or any other disaster than can happen with glasses has happened. For years the sub $20 Berkley and SK glasses were all I used. Served me well. This year I have "upgraded" to the $40 SK S11 glasses...........and all I have to say is it was worth it. The are leaps and bounds better than the $20 glasses, 6 months of use and abuse, and they are clear and scratch free, the detail in the water is WAY better, I have seen things with better detail and clarity in the water with those glasses that several buddies with more expensive Wiley X's, and Oakley's could not. I even gave them my glasses and they were shocked. Are a $40 pair of glasses better than a $200 pair? Probably not, but in my situation.....YES.

I lost my oakleys to the bottom of a river a couple months ago. I went the cheap route and got the Basspro XPS Sailfish polarized glasses as a replacement. For a cheap pair of glasses they fit my face surprisingly well and the polarization is pretty good. I would buy them again, and probably will since I tend to be tough on sunglasses.

it just depends on what you consider "too much money" My favorite pair of fishing glasses I have found are Wiley X " Valor's ". Stylish enough to wear all the time, and only about 100 bucks ...

Right now it's a toss up between Flying Fisherman and Fish Gillz for me - both have copper/vermillion lenses and look pretty good as well... And the prices are around $50...

Get the fishgillz you won't be disappointed with them they float and that has come in handy more than once plus the polarization is outstanding on them

I've been impressed with the Strike King glasses as well. I picked up the pair in the pack with the squarebills you might see at DSG or wherever just because it was on clearance and I broke my other glasses recently. I wasn't expecting much but I have been pleasantly surprised, especially for what I payed.
