Tuf-Line Supercast Issues

Featured Replies

For anyone else using this line, do you have problems with it getting nicked up really easy?  I was out using it the other day and had a backlash.  After pulling the line out I was reeling it back in with the line between my finger and thumb and I could feel (and see) numerous nicks in the coating of the 50-75' of line that I was reeling in.  The lake I was fishing doesn't have a lot of debris in it so I'm not real sure where these nicks are coming from other than from the line twisting?  I'm fairly sure these are weakening the line strength.  I haven't hooked up with a fish on this line since noticing the nicks so I'm not sure if it is hurting it or not.

I'm using the 20# line.

A twist is not a nick and if that's what it is, I don't think there would be any problem with line strength.  If they are actual nicks, I would be concerned that maybe my rod or reel was causing the problem.

Well, we had several members asking the same question. The response from Tuf-Line is that

wear on the coating does NOT affect the integrity of the line. I have been using the line ever

since they became a sponsor earlier this year. I will admit that the aesthetics bother me, too,

but I have had no issue with the line breaking.

Good to know...It'd be disheartening to get a nice fish on there only to have it break off because the coating on the line has a nick in it...

I was going to basically say the same thing. I've been using Tuf-Line since ice out and have had no problems.
