Moved Back To Middle Tn (Need Some Help)

Featured Replies

I have just gotten out of the Army after doing 5 years. Most of time was spent in KS where i picked up bass fishing again. I have really gotten into it the past couple years and man to I love it. I really never fished TN much, though when i did it was usually in a friends pond or lake. My father in law loves to bass fish as well. We plan on making a trip to Tims Ford tomorrow morning and i was wondering if anyone had any advice right now. Where should we start? Does anyone have any recent reports? We also tried fishing the TN river last week, with very little success. Could someone tell me a good place to fish there as well? Thanks for the help in advance.

First of all thank you for your service. Second, welcome back to middle TN. I can't help you much on the TN river or Tims ford. Most all my fishin is done on Percy Priest and Old hickory. Though I have caught trout below Tims.

Well, we went to Tims ford and man was it tough. I got skunked but my father in law was at least able to boat a few fish. We will be fishing other lakes like percy preiest and old hickory as well if anyone has any tips they would be greatly appreciated.

Again thank-you for your service I appreciate it. Sorry I can't help you with Tims Ford. If your interested in Cordell Hull I can help you.

The good thing about Guntersville is you can catch them on your style.....from offshore cranking/jigging to frogging and flipping grass.  One of the best places to get a bite is at a causeway like Brown's creek causeway.  Also, working walking/popping top water over submerged grass in Seibold is working right now and senko type baits on grass edges as well.

Although I have not fished Tim's Ford, I have heard it takes roughly 15-17 pounds to win tournaments and since it is deep lake, is more of a pleasure boater lake; while Guntersville usually takes 27-32 to win.  Not sure how far you are driving to get to Tim's Ford, but IMO is worth the extra time to get to a lake where you have a better chance of catching an 6# or better fish.

Thanks for your service and good luck.

Pick any TN River lake. The ones within 2 hours of you are some of the best in the US. Priest can be fun.
