is it worth the extra money for a more quiet braid.. I have heard scott martin talk about that it is important. but he has to be a bit of a salesman.... WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

 

mostly using this for froggin and some thick stuff pitching.

Noise is nicely reduced to near nothing. For frog use on slop and fibrous weeds S8S picks-up much less debris I took notice of this with micro-guides on my rod they didnt get clogged nearly as much.

it just totally baffles me why people still buy regular noisey digging in old outdated powerpro.if you like the brand at least buy super slick . I personally think there are many braids better than original powerpro.

yeah I dont really know the market well.. although I bought regular power pro for my spinning gear.. and with backing, I have NO digging in.. and while it is a bit noisy.. I catch lots of fish with it..

digging is more of an issue on baitcasters.

I think it's worth it. It is less noisy and casts great. Feels like dental floss. Oh, and I've only tried the yellow thus far but the color doesn't come off on my fingers nearly as much as other braids. I use 30lb and it doesn't dig in too bad at all.

I get the friction thing sort of. To each there own; I guess. Nothing worse than nails on a chalk board ahhhh

A lot depends on the bait your throwing. Cranks, swim jigs and other moving baits, the added buzz, dives me up the wall. Pitching, not so much.

 

I prefer the Super Slick in Timer brown. For me, the reduced noise is worth the extra

I have both, on different reels, and prefer the slick. Ties easier too I think.

I can only address spinning, using 10,15, and 20# lines it's true that some of the older braids make a bit of noise.  This noise issue does not happen on every combo I use, my freshwater ones seem to be quiet.  Some of the noise I do get is in the 20# size on my saltwater combos, if I feel it's excessive I make sure my roller and bearing are cleaned and oiled, that's a help, also holding the rod at a slightly different angle.  The older lines have proven to me that they handle my fish and tie a good knot, IMO the 2 most important things a line is supposed to do.

 

I recently spooled 10# PP slick, it does cast real nice, it's quiet and I like it so far, but it hasn't been tested for me.  Catching a handful of 5 pound fish on 10# braid is not a test of how good or bad a line is.  Jury is going to be out until I catch a number of 15# fish, will see the knot holding ability and line strength given the test of time.

 

Question still remains, is worth the extra few bucks...............I don't know yet.

I liked the orignal power pro too....and still use it on my live bait and striper rigs.

I had super slick put on one of my baitcasters and I find I like original power pro better still.  I don't see an issue using it, but guess that is your preference and we have ours.
