Senko, Yamasenko, Ika... whaa?

Featured Replies

So I went looking for these fabled Senkos and Ika's to try out finally, and got confused when I got to the store.  Couldn't find anything listed as a "Senko" all I could find that looked like all I'd seen were called "yamasenko", and as far as Ika's  all I could find was in their "discontinued" rack and they were some pumpkin fat ikas.  Going through the articles now, but did I miss something in a change to these lures naming them different?

I was at Gander Mountain, and I bought a pack 10 each.  I think the one is smoke/purple, and the ikas are pumpkin/black.

man do Ika's catch fish! you are gonna love them!! I dont buy Yama Senkos.. I have a custom guy pour mine and I buy them a 200 at a time in each color.. my fav is black shad swirl, red shad swirl, blue shad swirl and watermelon red and green flake and pumpkin seed. never been a fan of Senkos because there stupid over priced... my custom poured ones 200 only cost me 30 dollars a bag... he pours them to match a senko almost dead on and when I buy them he pours 100 to fall a little faster and 100 to fall a little slower! but I bet any one that if I put a yama senko and one of my guys baits in your hand you couldnt tell them a part. he does a awesome job and he pours a lot of my soft baits.

the word "senko" has been coined for all stick baits, but yes gary yamamotos yamasenko is the orginal

By the way, Senko is Japanese for " falls off hook easy". ;D

how true , senkos rip so easy on a moderate cast , i usually lose 3-4 out of a pack just casting them , and another 3-4 on a hook set  >;) been using "knockoffs" a lot and when my senkos run out i will not get any more cause they are not cost effective  ;)

Try Cabelas Aqua Glo Sticks. They are some of the best knock off's I've found. Garlic scent, the texture is very close. Their colors are limited, but the colors they do have are good, I like baby bass. And the best part is they are cheap. Right now they are on sale in the bargain cave for $1.99 per 10

And so...as usual..."Less Filling/Tastes Great!"

The question posted has been addressed, let's move on.

Good night Irene.
