hook question

Featured Replies

What is the recommended hook style for baits like the zoom swimming fluke, reaction innovations skinny dipper, and keitech swing impact? Do they swim correctly if I just use a EWG hook or does it have to be a swimbait hook?

You can rig any of those up on a standard EWG.  I like using a 4/0-5/0 Superline EWG when I'm rigging weightless.  Otherwise a good quality swimbait type hook will work just fine.  It all depends on what you want to do with it.  Remember, there are no set rules on how to fish a lure.

for rigging thick plastics , i would suggest you try the Owner beast hooks , they have a weighted version and a non-weighted version . these hooks are very stout and stay very sharp . give them a try !!  ;)

I've been fishing those style baits on a 60* ewg jig hook with a screw lock added. 1/0 and 2/0 sizes I find work best. The screwlocks really hold the baits on a long time without the heads tearing out.

I fish the Keitech Fat Swing Impact on a 1/2 oz GMAN

jig, 5/0.
