Where Can I Get A Owner's Manuel For A Nitro Z6

Featured Replies

i just purchase a 2013 used nitro z6 but  i dont have a owner's manuel. does anyone know where can i get one of those

this boat has only been in the water one time and i need to know how to break the motor in correctly.

and still trying to figure out how everything works..

I'd start by calling tracker marine

To break in the motor, you'll need to find the motor manufacturer's manual, not the boat's.  Did you buy it new?  If so, they should have provided the manuals to you.  If not, the motor is probably already broken in and it would seem odd that the previous owner didn't have the manuals after only a year.  But like Buck said try with tracker marine for the boat and call Mercury or whomever for the motor.

If it's an Opti, you have a 4hr break in period that, from what I understand, needs to be followed or Merc can void the warranty. Allow the motor to warm to operating temp. Run first 2hrs with motor trimmed below level between 4000-5000rpm changing speed every 2 minutes. For the last 2hrs change speed every 10 minutes. For the first 10 hours never run WOT for more than 5 minutes at a time. Evinrude E-Tech has no break in and I'm not sure about the other manufacturers or any of the 4 strokes.

Yeah 4 hours sounds about right.  I did mine last year but forget what my manual said.  The motor's computer will continue to break itself in with double oil ratio for (I think) 10 hours.  But the RPM/speed restrictions is all manual.  Just can't remember the hours.

thanks for answering my question.. i more thing i want to know is how do u keep a track of how many hour that is on the motor.. the first onwer brought the boat brand new and trade it in at a car dealership.  they claim at the dealer the boat only have 0.6 hour on the motor  and i have took it to the lake one time so far and did not run it very long either... and this is my first boat so i dont know anything about it .. the boat dont come with a hour meter. so  what i need to do

take it to a certified shop and have them hook it up to a "machine" (I don't know the name of it, but it's a diagnostic type machine that'll tell you how many hours it has on it). Then, go to the website of whatever manufacturer made your motor (Yamaha, Merc, Suzuki...whatever) and they should have a section dedicated to manuels and FAQ's. As for keeping track of the hours, use a stopwatch or your graphs? I don't really know man....

I just came to here to say you'll need to bring it to a certified dealer to get em to hook it to the machine, then you can find a manuel on whatever companies website.

If there is no hour meter, and if you don't have Smartcraft gauges, a Merc dealer can plug in the computer and tell you how many hours are on it. To keep track yourself along with numerous other readings, you can install a MercMonitor. When I did the initial break in, I did the first 2 hours, and on another day, the last 2 hours. The break in is important for the motor and for the warranty. There is a link on Mercurys website to purchase a manual, and another link to register the motor. I would recommend registering it as well to be notified of any recalls.

No. Drive it like you stole it.

There is a regular maintenance schedule after the break in. You'll have to get the manual. I've run a Merc for 10 years. An ELPTO, and now a ProXS. I have always had my mechanic service once a year and not really worried about it. I trust my mechanic.

WOT is "wide open throttle"  or full speed.

I pulled this from another site. This is from a Mercury mechanic with an excellent reputation

ALWAYS READ THE INSTRUCTIONS IN YOUR OWNER'S MANUAL AND FOLLOW THEM!

Proper engine break-in is critically important to the performance, life and longevity of your engine.

In addition to (and in combination with) the manual recommendations, I would make the following recommendations:

-Quickleen should be utilized in EVERY tank of fuel.... from the FIRST TANK- to the LAST.

-Start engine and allow it to warm up to operating temperature. I strongly recommend the use of a Smartcraft Instrument, which will allow you to monitor and ensure that the engine reaches a MINIMUM of 120 degrees before accelerating above 1200 RPM's.

-During the first 3 hours of break-in, keep your engine trim "no higher" than "level trim". If you're running a hydraulic jackplate, keep the jackplate down as far as "safely" possible. This will help to load the engine, and promotes proper break-in.

-Make your first acceleration of the day GRADUALLY. Your target RPM for Breakin (per manual) is 4500-5500 RPM (approximately 3/4 throttle). In all honesty, RPM's between 4000-5000 RPM's are very suitable for break-in. Vary engine RPM's at least once every 2 minutes.

-During the first 3 hours of break-in, it is wise to plan a complete shut-down of the engine, while allowing the engine to completely cool down. This can be accomplished while you fish, or- if you prefer, by continuing your break-in on another outing. This "cooldown" is often referred to as a "HEAT CYCLE". I personally recommend a MINIMUM of ONE heat cycle during the first three hours of operation.

-It is ALWAYS wise to allow the engine to idle for approximately 60 seconds before shutdown. This allows engine temperature to stabilize within it's "thermostatic control" temperature range, and can help to extend your engine's life.

-After three hours of operation, FULL THROTTLE and additional trim may be used for SHORT RUNS (recommend five minutes or less).

-Continue to vary engine RPM's at least once every 5 minutes over the first 10 HOURS of operation.

-Once 10 hours have been reached, begin "NORMAL" operation.

-Recommended that engine be serviced at approximately 20 hours.

Footnote: These engines will continue to mechnically "wear-in" through approximately 40 hours runtime. Peak horsepower and torque are usually attained by the 40 hour mark (this is NOT a programmed event... it's simply due to the mechanical wear-in of moving components).

What is said above.

Contact motor manufacturer for motor manual.

Call 417.887.3832 for Nitro manual, if there is one.

This number is the parts department in Springfield and they are very helpful.
