Favorite Lure Of All Times

Featured Replies

I really don't have a brand, but my favorite and all time favorite type of lures to fish are swimbaits. Any where from 7-11 inches. Anything under that doesn't give me the satisfaction of catching a bass.

  • Deadsticking a pink buzzbait really fast or burning it really slow.   Killer.

  • Texas Rigged Beaver. Can catch them anywhere with it.

T-rig !!!

I love pitching trigged craws or beavers. and frogs in slop is great but those big ol bass love big swimbaits probably those 3 techniques are what i love to do but i don't box myself into those techniques.

The Senko brought me back into bass fidhing. 50 years ago it was the original Floating Rapala.

Before that the Creme Purple Worm, Devil Horse and Lazy Ike.

Sounds a lot like me.  Original floating Rapala and the purple Creme worm. Everyone used purple so we called them "purple worms", not plastic worms. I remember using a lot of the pre-rigged ones with two hooks and a small spinner in front. The Lazy Ike was also a good producer.

I've been a Senko convert ever since I discovered this website.  I never head out for bass without a weightless T rigged Senko on one of my rods and probably do 80 percent of my bass fishing with that rig.

Some other all time favorites include that original Rapala, Shad Raps,  Heddon Torpedoes and Jitterbugs.   I used to like the Hula Popper too, but the last time I bought a few the quality of the lures was horrible.

Easy, Spook.

Punching, Frogging, Jigs and Ripping are close behind, but a spook is just too much fun.

My favorite is the one I caught my last quality fish on.  My avatar was caught on a plastic jerk shad about 10 days ago, so that's my favorite.

~ 7" ribbon-tail worm, tequila sunrise (or something similar) t-rigged. I've caught more quality bass on these than anything else, and it ain't even close.

Whichever one will catch a bass right now. If I caught my pb on a topwater that's all I would fish.

Being asked to list my favorite lures is somewhat akin to being asked which I like best- blondes, brunettes, or redheads.  But if I HAD to choose:

My two largest bass (a 7 and 6 lber) were caught on a Rapala Glass (Shad) Rap so I guess that has to be my favorite big fish bait.

I can almost always catch something with a floating Rapala if the going gets rough so this would be one of my two "desperation" baits.

Same goes with a curly tailed Gulp worm (my other desperation bait).  It's almost like fishing live bait.

A Texas-rigged Berkley Chigger craw (with or without a skirt) will go places that ordinarily jigs will not (and they're less expensive to lose when you actually do hang up).  Dropped vertically down into a flooded tree, it is a killer.  With those soft pincers, it is also a pretty good swimming jig.

For topwater, my first choice would be a Heddon Tiny Torpedo.  Another favorite is the Devils Horse but braided line tends to wrap around the back prop so it takes second place.  I like a zara spook but the fish seem less often to be in the mood to hit one of those whereas with a prop bait I can almost always entice something to bite.

When the fish are fairly active, a spinnerbait fished in the flats can cover a LOT of water quickly and can be deadly.

my go to lure is always a jig.  a jig and pork will, in my opinion, more consistently catch big bass than any other lure.

Without question my favorite lure is a Texas rigged plastic worm. This rig is so versatile and can be fished in cover with few snags. You will catch fish on this rig 6 of 7 days of the week. Also, you can rig any soft plastic this way.
