Favorite Lure Of All Times

Featured Replies

It changes over time.  When I was a youngster and a newbie to bass fishing the original Rapala Floater was my favorite lure.  Later on, the spinnerbait and the T-rigged worm became my favorites.  I enjoy fishing a jig and craw now more than other lures.  Who knows what the future holds?

  • Deadsticking a pink buzzbait really fast or burning it really slow.   Killer.

  • Texas Rigged Beaver. Can catch them anywhere with it.

Banjo minnow...................Bazinga!   I would have to say a blue fleck colored berkley power worm. I have had a lot of luck this year texas rigging them weightless.

Got to be jerk baits. For some reason nothing can touch the amount of fish I catch on soft plastics such as the slug-gos, senkos and even drop shot plastics like the fish belly hawgs trigger and danced through cover.

Banjo minnows and Senkos don't count. They are in a league by themselves due to their effectiveness.

I would have to say it is a tie with me between a frog and a jig

I agree with Senile 1 that my all time favorite changes over time. :Idontknow: When I was a kid a pre-rigged purple worm with a spinner on the front; as a young man getting back into fishing, a T-rigged motor oil Culprit worm, and a grub and Darter head jig; a few years later a black jig and black Uncle Josh pork frog opened the world of deeper structure; when I landed here several years ago I discovered the joys of a wacky rigged Senko; now a chatterbait, or as down4ttown mentioned a T-rigged Beaver might get the nod, or maybe  a Trickworm and shakyhead combo, maybe a shallow or square bill crank, or even a deep crank -something I never thought would happen. Who know what's next? Swimbaits? A-rig? Banjo minnow? The next great thing? We'll see...

Split shot of a Zoom Utail worm. Pumpkinseed/Chartreuse. Tru-Turn hooks. Used as a kid, caught hundreds of fish for me. Reminds me of fishing with my Dad.

id have to say it would be a texas rigged worm or jig. i like them both equally.

Ok.....my go to/favorite worm is definitely a Zoom U-Vibe Speed Worm, Green Pump or Junebug Red. BUT...my favorite lure to catch fish on is most definitely a spook style/walking topwater.  The rhythmic retrieve on a long casts....... and the strikes are like nothing else!

What year is this?  What time of the year?

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING beats a topwater strike.  Devils Horse or a Buzzbait for me.

Then the tried and true T-rig worm is always tied on.

I went through, heck who am I kidding, I am a jig-a-holic.

Now these big swimbaits.........

I think the Rage Tail Shad must be my favorite lure of all time, fishes like a buzzbait, kill it on the retrive and let it sit, bring it over pads/scum, slowly wake it..DYNAMITE!

Now its a jig and craw.  When I first started fishing many moons ago it was a silvery colored Cordell big-o.  That lure could catch fish anywhere.

Senkos and senko style baits, have now replaced the spinnerbait as my go to lure.

Are you fishing this bait weightless? What size hook.

Most of the big bass I've caught were skewed to one single lure.

I live in the north and 4lb+ bass is a good fish 20 inch+

Half of the 4lb+ bass I've ever caught were caught by lil ole Koppers Walkin' Frog..

if it were a general, it'd be highly decorated with medals all over.

I like to see the fish smash the Lunker Punker and my Xwalks but most of the big uns hit my KWF.

I love my senkos and sometimes even a fresh night crawler will get them going.

My favorite treble-based lure was and always will be the Rapala Mini Fat Rap (discontinued - not smart if you ask me).  The newer versions just don't work as well.

My favorite soft plastic craw - Powerteam Lures 3.5" Craw D'oeuvre in Kitchen Sink or Black/Blue

My favorite stick bait - Powerteam Lures 5" Sick Stick in Green Pumpkin Light Blue Swirl or Black with Blue flake.

My favorite spinnerbait - Strike King 1/4oz Rocket Shad (but I replace the skirts with a custom tie for better endurance)

My favorite topwater frog - Stanley Ribbit in black, watermelon pearl and catalpa

Weightless with a 4/0 ewg hook, if you want longer casts for whatever reason use a 4-0 keel weighted swimbait hook, in this scenaro it can also be fished as a swimbait slightly under the surface, ive had a lot of strikes with this as well

Make sure you vary your retrives if your not getting bit, sometimes they want it slower or faster depending on conditions

The thing you need to understand about this bait is that its a BIG FISH bait. All my biggest fish this year came on a rage tail shad.

Also for some reason even though this bait is a topwater, i get bit a lot when the sun is out on it also.

Just dont be afraid to throw it whenever you feel like catching a big bass.
