Lost The Biggest Bass Of My Life!!!!!

Featured Replies

Oh my god, just got back from a short evening trip to one of my favorite lakes and I can say I lost a fish that would have easily beaten my pb by a solid 3 pounds.

We pulled up on a weed edge that was on the edge of a 25 foot drop off, cast my 8 inch weedless hudd( rainbow trout) and let it sink to the bottom. Start crawling it along the bottom and BAM this bass almost ripped the rod out of my hand, set the hook as hard as I can! I get the pig to the boat and look at it in amazement, this was easily an 8lb northern strain largemouth, she gets right up to my net, turns to dive and POP! Goes my hudd...hook popped out!

Oh well, just another fishing story! I'll get her next time!

Man I know your pain I have a few of these stories but that's why we fish

That hurts. A looser drag might have saved that fish. I will often loosen my drag when I get a big fish close to the boat. I learned that lesson the hard way.

That sucks, but at least you know where she lives.  Go back after her.

The one that got away! Don't worry kid, you'll get a bigger one one day and she'll be just a memory of the pass.

I need to buy a Huddleston.

they're out there my friend, I've seen more than one

swimbaits = big fish. i constantly fish a lake and catch solid 3.5-4.5 lb bass on jigs, senkos etc.. but my swimbait finatic friend goes to the same lake and can pull a 7.9 and 6.4 the same day on a swimbait. Hudd 68 wacks em'

i need to purchase a swimbait rod and a swimbait and start throwing it, im tired of seeing BIG fish being caught on swimbaits and not being in on it lol

I feel that with big swimbaits, soft ones especially that every cast I have a better chance of hooking that monster. I'm sure others disagree. I might not get bit for awhile but I believe it will be worth it that day I can say my pb is 8lbs and yea I'm in Michigan

You are now a member of the biggest lost fish club. Congraulations.

Everyone will be come a member sooner or later.

I still remember the big on Lake Chesdin in Virginia that threw my crankbait at the boat. Or the one on Lake Gaston in Virginia that hit my sexy shad crankbait and took off under the boat and the line snapped. I guess she is in Chicago by now.

Keep on fishing and you will land those big ones and lose those big ones. Just a part of bass fishing.
