How Long Should A Bass Rod Be
This is all personal preference. Length is up to you on how conformable it feels to you. You don't want something to long and heavy or your wrist will get sore quickly. As far as power and action, it depends on technique you are trying to apply and where too. Medium fast action rod is the average you can use for most technique. Heavy fast action rod is good for heavy cover and frog. Medium-Heavy moderate action is good for cranking deep and ripping through grass. So again, it's up to personal preference and technique and where you are fishing at. etc...

Landing Big Fish
Sharp hook and a good hook set. Keep line tight and reel it in fast.

Who Needs A Bass Buster When There Are These!
No thanks, I rather have a 14 feet grizzly rig out with a 25Hp for that price! If it sits at 5k-6k, then it would sell. A 9.9HP is only $2.5k at most. That boat shouldn't cost you more than 2.5k to 3.5k.

This Is Why I Detest Calling Customer Servicef
That's the saddest thing in the world when your costumer knows more than you about your product!

Alligators And Kayaks
There is nothing wrong with kayak fishing. Wrong are only done when you are not aware of your situation and you putting yourself in harms way. Like some of the guys said, "Don't fish in an infested gator lake or pond." Watch out for dead lumber that has hornets. Watch out for waves or you may get tipped over. The list go on and on.... Make sure where you are fishing, you can call for help! Don't get caught in a dead zone because you're the only one there.

Jumping Fish
Yeah, you just can't stop them from jumping. The only thing you need to do is like some of the guys on here say, "Hope your hook set was good enough to hold him until he gets on board." That's why we always say, "Tight line, Tight lines, hold him tight!" As for treble hook, hope you have a forgiving line and rod so that it flex as he jumps. Otherwise you can kiss him "Good Bye!"

New Plastics/jig Rod
If you want quality, I'd go with St.Croix LTB or Extreme just because of the guide that they are putting on there are better than any other rods out there today. If you want sensitivity, I would recommend a Duckett rod. Man, those rod are super sensitive. Duckett rod are only $150 too.

Are These Reels Any Good?
If it has KVD signature on it then it's good. LOL! It doesn't mean it's the best reel in the world but KVD stand by it and say they will perform well for the price it is selling. Coming from the best fisherman in the world, I think that is probably the best guarantee that the product will do well for what it's worth.

Help, Baitcaster Went For A Swim & Need Advice
Dip it into Isopropyl alcohol for a couple of minute and let it dry overnight if you are really afraid of rust.

Does The Quility Of Mono Backing Effect The Casting Distance
I use paint tape on top of the backing mono to prevent dig.

Gear Ratio For Swimjigs And Spinnerbaits
I'm like KVD, I burn the reel too fast so I'm using the 5.5:1 or 6.5:1. It all depends on you and how you reel. If you burn the reel, use a slower one. If you're a slow at reeling then use a high gear ratio 7.1:1.

High Priced Rods & Sensitivity. Would You Call It Necessary?
Absolutely correct! I was trying to say this earlier which probably didn't make a lot of sense to people and I got nailed for. My apologies, but J Francho took the words out of my heart and stated it above. I stand by what he say's.

High Priced Rods & Sensitivity. Would You Call It Necessary?
I have a Duckett rod that was more sensitive then my Legend Tournament. Why did I upgrade to a Legend Tournament, it's because it's a better quality rod then a Duckett. Sensitivity doesn't always count if you get a crappy rod that breaks every year! (Note: I don't mean the Duckett rod.) I want a rod that will not fail me.

High Priced Rods & Sensitivity. Would You Call It Necessary?
More sensitivity? No sensitivity upgrade after $150. After $150, you are probably only getting a better quality rod.

What Am I Doing Wrong???
Make sure the hook are sharp and make sure you set the hook hard to penetrate. Sometime the bass will swallow and you set the hook too lightly, it will just fling off. A good Hook set is best to ensure not losing that double digit with frog.

First Time Getting A Baitcaster
Totally agree with what David said about buying a better reel. Spend at least $100 above on the reel. Here's what I would recommend for that price range. BPS JOhnny Morris CarbonLite is $109.97 now, and peer it with Berkley Lightning Rod(Shock Series Trigger Rods) $49.99-54.99. When you get better, you can upgrade the rod, but the reel will do you well for a long time. The next range would be Skeet Reese Rods, Abu Garcia Veritas Rods, St.Croix Mojo Rods, Shimano Compre. These are all around $100.

Weight Estimate
Kid, we are guessing here so please try not tell me my guess is wrong or right. Your guess is as good as mine when we are guessing. Each of us can only guess upon our experience on what is given to us. If your guess tell you that it's less then 6.5lb then it's your guess. Mine gut's is telling me that it's at least 8lb and not much more. You need to learn to respect other people choice and guess on this forum and stop trying to convince that you are right!

What Should I Buy With 400$
Save your $400 for your college fund. Stop being an idiot and spend it all on this sport unless you are willing to make it a career. Like some of the guys here say, just spend about $150 to get yourself a good enough setup and have fun.

What Could Have Caused These Bites?
It's getting close to October so I'm betting it's Micheal Myers testing his new machete. He's probably like, "If I can chop a turtle's shell, I can chop a human skull."

Initiating Youngest Grandson
At that age, it's all about catching as many fish as you can. It's great to do that just to see them get excited. Gives you great memories and they grow up and start learning how to fish instead of catching fish. This year, my son had a blast learning how to fish slow. He's 14 now and I'm showing him a new presentation. Before this, he's learned swimbait, crank, lipless crank, spinners, spoon, jerk, and top water frogs, but nothing slow. I've bought him a better rod so that he can feel the bottom and learn how a fish swallow a crawling/drop lure. It's an all new excitement and flare to him.
