Wet Cell Phone

Featured Replies

So as I was driving today my water bottle tipped over and spilled water right on the back of my brand new phone. After cussing up a storm I got home and tried blow drying the back. My speaker was completely dead and I was freaking out. I found this app on the google play store called "android speaker cleaner". I figured it was a gimmick but was willing to try, and sure enough it puts out a lot of vibration and a high pitched tone. To my amazement the speaker works just as well if not better than it did before today. Just figured as much as we are around water it may help someone. Not sure if the same app is available for iphones. Thanks guys!

I had a cell phone fall off my belt and into a foot of water, while launching my canoe.  I didn't realize it until I was going to use it about six hours later.  I found it when we returned to the ramp.  I pulled out the battery, and when I got home, I put a hair dryer to it.

I reinstalled the battery and it turned on, but when I tried to put some numbers in, it did all sorts of funky things.  Out came the battery and let it sit for several days.  Put the battery in, and half the numbers would work when I punched the key.  Again, out came the battery.  This time for about six months.  Put the battery in, and hooked up the charger.  When it was fully charged, I checked it out, and everything worked perfectly.

I got another phone the day after I dunked this one.  If anything happens to my current phone, I'll get the swimmer reactivated.

Put it in a bag of rice

Put it in a bag of rice

x2. I dropped mine in water and took it all apart to place the pieces in rice. Worked fine after a few days. Little problems here and there with the battery, but that was it.

Put it in a bag of rice----Would that be white, brown, or fried?

You put it in a bag of any kind of rice, over night Asian people will come in and eat the rice and fix your phone.

That's funny right there!

Someone told me about the rice thing before but I thought they were full of it.  Not planning on dropping my phone in the lake any time soon but it's good to know this works.

I finally broke down and bought my little Apple family lifeproof Nuud cases. It's nice to know they are waterproof. I use mine in the hot tub almost daily.

Funny story before I got the cases I was in the hot tub with my 3yr old and I was leaning over the edge trying to watch honey booboo on TV and I hear my son say "dad, dad" I tell him to give me a minute and wen a commercial came on A few minutes later I asked what he wanted?

He tells me "I dropped your phone" :-0
