Hey Im wondering whats a good shakey head rod?

for spinning, generally i like a ML or M power, fast tip.

 

most often i use the ML but i use the M in heavier cover or bigger/heavier shakey heads.

 

*** 7'1 is a good rod for $100, but i really like my dobyns Champion 702 but that will run you $230 or so... really depends on what you want, most rods these days you cant go wrong with..

If you're asking what action and power make a good shakey head rod, I use a 68MXF Avid for spinning and a 72MHXF Cumara for casting. I like the XF actions better for quick hook sets and i feels they are more sensitive. I you're asking what brand and model it depends on how much you want to spend. 

I like 6'6" or 7" M power, fast action spinning rods.

Usually around 7' m/f spinning rod. I've thrown them on m and mh baitcasters before though and didn't think twice about it.

7'2" spinning rod! By far the best. That way you can chuck them out there which is critical out here in the west with the clear water.

Just got a Phenix 7' 2" XF spinning rod for shakey and wacky rigging...

Don't know why I didn't buy it sooner.

Ive been throwing shakeyheads on a 6'8 medium cumara spinning rod. Ive also thrown them on a 6'10 cumulus, 6'8 cumara medium, and x-fast casting rods.

 

I throw 1/16oz on spinning, 1/8oz and heavier on casting rods.

Depends on the line you are using, if you are using braid then go for something in fast or moderate fast action, lighter fluorocarbon lines have a little stretch so a fast action on that line also, extra fast for mono. I use a Fenwick Elite Tech Smallmouth spinning rod, 6' 9" medium power with an extra fast action and 8lb copolymer line, perfect set up for me. I used to use a 6'6" spinning rod and found it great for fishing from shallow to about 12' deep or so but I was missing hook sets when fishing slightly deeper water so I went for a little more length and found the 6'9" was great, I still had control but the extra 3" was picking up more line and since then I haven't missed a hookset even in 30' of water which is about the deepest fish we have during the summer in natural lakes.
