Fish On!

Featured Replies

Well, it finally happened.  After a few months of trying I finally landed my first bass!  It wasn't the biggest guy in the pond but I'll take it!  I was almost ready to call it a day and head back home when I decided to make a few more casts along the bank on my way back to the car.  I was throwing a wacky rigged watermelon senko.  I had switched to that after being unsuccessful with my split shot worm.  Got one fish on but he leaped out of the water and threw the hook.  I reeled it back in, slid the worm back on the hook and cast  it back out.  Soon after it hit the water I saw my line jump to the left and he was taking off with it.  I lifted the rod tip and began to reel him in and the rest is history.  He was the only one I caught today but it was awesome.  I've been teaching myself how to bass fish thanks to this website and glenn's videos.  Also got the technique for the senko from roadwarriors guaranteed to catch bass post.  I'm really grateful that this site exists.  I've learned a lot from reading a bunch of other posts on here.  I can't wait to get back out and catch more.

Congrats man! That is one incredibly healthy-looking, beautifully marked/colored fish. Great photo too

When I got back into fishing 5 years ago, my first bass was about the same size. Plenty of more fish to look forward to. Congrats!
