Alabama Fisherman Roll Call

Featured Replies

Just checking to see how many Alabama fisherman we have out there. I would like to start a Bragging Rights thread for us Alabamians. It has worked out well for the Florida group and the northeast guys are doing well also. I just need to get some guys on board and we will get this ball rolling.

Hi there Geno nice to hear from you. Would you be interested in a little friendly competition? It will be a 5 fish bag over the course of a month. The person with the most inches wins. Fish are photographed showing the length.Tip of the Lip to the tip of the tail. Pretty simple stuff. It is purely for fun and bragging rights of course. It will be slow at first but that's how these things go. As time goes on they take on a life of thier own. We would love for you to join us.

Anybody doing any fishing right now? I've been tied up with family stuff and finishing up a little Jon boat. I haven't fished at all this year. What about you guys?

I've been twice and caught a few small fish. nothing to write home about. ready for february and some warmer weather so the fish will start prespawn migration

I won't be able to go out this weekend, I have a few more ducks to get in a row, but next weekend unless the Chattahoochee freezes over I'll be out there putting all the advise you gave me to good use.

Good luck i haven't been able to get out to the hooch lately the river here has been very muddy making it a tough bite from what I've heard. But it seems to be clearing up now may be able to try and get out mlk day.

I see what you mean about the muddy water. I went out with a buddy of mine today to run his bayliner and the river was NASTY! We did some hybrid fishing, but we never got a bite. We were right below a dam and the birds were going crazy inside the bouts out of reach to us. I'm thinking that's where all the action was. Birds usually mean shad are around and the hybrid aren't too far behind. I hope you have better luck on Monday.

Is anyone else doing any fishing?

I'm Templeton from talladega county. Home lake is Lake Howard and Lake Virginia.

Hey Caylub, you are trendsetter. Now Connecticut is doing a roll call of their own.

That's awesome. I believe this winter lull is going to pass soon and everyone is going to get cranked back up. I am just following your lead brother.

I have been thinking about heading south at the end of february hitting guntersville for a couple of days then to Eufaula. Any helpful tips for Eufaula you wouldn't mind sharing. Thanks in advance.

Pm sent.

Caylub, fished the river a little bit today caught 7 short fish and one hybrid. all caught on a black jig with a saphirre paca craw trailer. in the main river channel all positioned below a log jam. the river is still muddy but not as bad as it was a few days ago.

Headed to the lake tomorrow its a little muddy but hoping the muddy water and warmer weather will get the bass active.
