Sooooo. Good and bad news. Good news first. Finger seemed fine with medical glue, and caught a 3lb bass in the dark.

 

Bad news is...didn't have my tape measurer

 

 

 

 

Don't you hate it when something like that happens. Toward the end of our competition last month, I went out and forgot my phone. Fortunately, what I caught that day would not have made the difference. That 3lbr you caught however, would have helped I think.

Yeah it would of helped for sure. Not stressing it though, my focus is always on finding the trophy. Those are the bragging rights I enjoy!

I met a guy yesterday who is a Marine and he told me about a bunch of spots that are on Old Saint that he has caught 10lbers out of. One spot I knew there were big ones lurking but need to ask the property owner for permission to fish, so I am going with him on Sunday and he is introducing me so I can gain access I will be there whenever I can get out since it's a lot closer than my big fish spot.

 

My buddy is getting a yak tomorrow and wants me to take out his buddy's yak with him... after seeing that gator video I don't think I will be able to get that out of my head lol I told him I'd go with him but most likely I will be on the bank I need a jon boat and I'd be good lol

Here's a 16.5" from lunch today! Sun was shining bright. Yozuri minnow crankbait fished "walk the dog." 20lb braid w/ 12lb flouro leader.

LOL I take most people with a grain of salt. EVERYONE has caught a 10 pounder around here. LOL

Maybe but hey I doubt multiple times. I talked to one guy and he was like I pulled out a couple 4 pound bass, see the pics and they we maybe 2 pounds LOL. I bet you are talking about that pond behind the chain link...good luck

No that spot you are talking about I met the person whose house is on the lake, above it technically, and got permission to fish (according to him there are 4 in there that he knows of).  That's where I was fishing and met this guy at the gas station after he saw me putting my poles back.

 

But for real EVERYBODY in FL claims they caught a 10lb proof is in the pictures though

Man I take everyone at their word why lie? I know fishermen are known to over exaggerate but it is what it is, also not many people carry scales with them so it is an GUESStiamte. I carry my scale so I don't have to guess I'm sure a bunch of us are that way too.

looks like you were under a bridge in the pic did you catch it under there? Looks like that fish is long prob around 24"?

It was under the 408 on the pillars. Didn't measure length. Buddy had a berkley scale and it came in at 10.02lb. I'm 5'8 if that helps? 

 

EDIT: Also, I caught that on an abu silver max ($60) with 10lb MONO. Scariest moment of my life because those pillars will snap line easliy.

Man in my experience most folks like to talk big, esepcially about themselves. They wanna be the best, have the best etc. You can usually tell who is ***ting you and not by how they talk. And like Mouldie said there are ways to make fish look bigger. LOL Must just be the folks I run into or you have the gift of gab cuz the legit fisherman are more about talking their numbers and they day and less about their PB and they are also tight lipped about spots and sometimes bait.

10 pound mono is where it is at! Lol I am in need to get some and spool up my reel. I am not a 100% on the braid wagon yet.....So I take it you weren't fishing a frog?

Yea man I bet! I had mono when I hooked my PB that got away snap in a bunch of pads so I can imagine if she got you to a pillar it would have been a fish story like mine.

My buddy's friend has been slaying the big ones in ORange Park on shad raps, two specific colors. I picked up some when I was out there yesterday going to try them out at these new spots this weekend... My frog rod will get a break this weekend only will use it during the AM and late evening inbetween I will be cranking

Nope, no frog that time. Like I said earlier, I have to go with the flow of my friends (who own the boat). He wanted to fish the pillars and thank god he did. I was using a shallow running minnow (3 treble, 3-4inches?) that my buddy bought at walmart in the junk bin for 99 cents. I like braid for cover, but if im fishing open, I'll do mono on top, flouro on bottom  (usually between 10-14lb test on either). 

 

EDIT: I can't find that lure anywhere and its really upsetting. I cracked the only one I had about 2 months ago.

Ah I got a few shad raps. Had some luck but I don't invest much time in cranking. I do have a personal favorite color though, but it appears we are keeping those secret

X2 I wouldn't have fished frogs if it wasn't for Lou. Then when I met my boy Dave for the first time he gave me the frogs I use today and I have never looked back since.

Yeah, but these are people I see in fishing sections at stores or meet near or at spots. The forum is fair game and I think these folks understand sharing is caring

Hahaha I just kinda think that is ironic and like you won the lottery at the same time because you say 90% of the time it is a frog. The odds must have been against. Nice....Was it a walmart brand or one of their cheap ones like bomber or rebel.
