I Love Google Earth

Featured Replies

I live near some soccer fields . I knew there was a creek , but I suspected their might be some majic spots so I fired up the old computer and Found a nice spot that showed potential. Never assume all skinny water is useless.

I use google maps a lot too. Another handy app I found is called fishing spots, it's pretty much a map app where people can tag spots and show pictures of what they caught

I use the maps all the time.

Something I can't explain.  All of the maps indicated a pond near my home for the last 3 or 4 years, drove by many times and there was no pond there.  That area is now being developed and now the pond is there with the same exacts dimensions, what gives on that.  I think it was a pond that was filled in at one time.

Sometimes you may find a creek or stream , what makes the difference is when you follow it to other structures or sometimes bodies of water . However I have found small or big places to fish and find invisible water with big metal buildings in its place. So take the good with the bad . But for the most part it is some what accurate. Certain state sites that show creeks and small rivers all over the state . Thats how sometimes I will find them then go to google eart to start following terrain .

One I just discovered recently.....http://www.navionics.com/en/webapp

You're welcome. ;)

Won't work for finding small creeks and what not but makes map study at home much easier.

use that one all the time too.

I was checking something about a card and found, then was like:

AHHHHHHH YEAHHHHHH!

use it all the time too, find all kinds of new ponds and lakes around me

I use google earth on my phone mostly when I am driving looking for new spots. Served me well when I was visiting my brother in Orlando I found two or three nice spots including one honey hole.

Great app to have on your smart phone when on the go

Better yet, I like it for locating structure. A lot of the color variation in the photography are depth changes. I use the measure tool in GE to get some general dimensions of these areas (how far offshore, etc), then map for it on the water by counting down a jig. A lot of times when I find the structures, the jig doesn't reach bottom.
