How about these hooks for Dropshot?

Featured Replies

Ive been searching for some decent hooks for dropshotting.  Would these style hooks suffice?

I dont think i would use those for a dropshot, they don't look like they would stand out right.  For me, it's owner mosquito hooks by far, anything else is lacking.  I've tried stand out hooks and other dropshot specific hooks and the best I've found have been the mosquitos.  Gammie finesse hooks are good and octopus hooks are ok but I prefer the owners.

Well, that 's not the type of hook I would use for dropshotting ( would use it if I didn 't have anything else ), that 's a Kahle hook, those are good for longitudinaly wacky rigging.

I only use the owner DS hooks now..they work great!!  ;)

Me too.  The Owner wide gap finese hook is my favorite.  The hook to bite ratio with this hook has been excellent.  You get a 25 pack for about nine bucks.  Money well spent.

In my opinion, no, that is not a good hook for your dropshot.

Go with a gold #1 up to a 1/0.

Try the smaller hooks designed especially for the drop shot rig, too.

You want the bait to wiggle without having a heavy or large hook to weight it down or inhibit its movements.

You will catch large bass using smaller hooks so don't thhink you have to use an extra wide gap or a large hook.

Just my suggestion.  ;)
