Was noticing the other day when I was reeling in my spinnerbait that it was almost laying on its side as it was coming in. It was a new lure and the wire was straight. When I reeled it in very slow it would straighten out but the faster I reeled the more it wanted to roll over on its side. I was hoping somebody might be able to give me some advice on why it does that.

Sounds like that spinnerbait was not designed to fish that fast.  Its a slow roller.  Your blade combination with the weight of the bait will all effect the speed of the retrieve.

try slowing down retrieve rate, google how to tune spinnerbaits as sometimes they will not run true after a big fish hits it

Agree w Siebert -- if it's straight, it's just not designed to run fast.  Maybe a blade change (different type) will help....

Solutions

Slow it down-

Use a heavier spinner bait

Change the blades

OR  Take up golf

So what to look for in a sb for faster retrieves? Smaller blade or style of blade or both.

What brand, blade type and weight is the spinnerbait?

This can happen when a spinnerbait with very large blades is fished too fast.
