Would a Dobyn's savvy 734 make a good swim jig-chatterbait rod and if so why and if not why not

Yes, it would be ideal for those applications. 

Yes it would be good to use for both. I have the same rod and also use it for small swimbaits and spinnerbaits. It is a good rod baits between 3/8 - 5/8 oz. Mine has been used for 2 full seasons and never an issue. A versatile rod for sure.

Thank you for the responses I'm looking to get a couple new rods before spring. I have seen a lot of reviews on the champions on here but not much on the savvy's.Are there any other rods in the savvy price range that you guys can think of that would excel at what I'm wanting to do with them.

I went with the 735 for my 1/2oz swims off Gary's recommendation and couldn't be happier. With hook, skirt and trsiler, I'm pushing 3/4oz & up on my swims. The 735 feels perfect. Anything lighter, I would go with the 734 no doubt.

I use the 734 champ. It's an amazingly versatile rod. With 17lb fluoro I can throw spinnerbaits, chatter baits, jigs, t rigs, swim jigs and small swimbaits.

The 4 power rods are the most versatile of the bunch. That's why I have 3 (and soon to be 4) of them.
