Small Tackle Boxes For Trout

Featured Replies

  • Super User

I got a new fishing vest for xmas and now I'm wanting some new tackle boxes to go with it.  I don't fly fish but use small fly spinners and jerkbaits.

What are some new/good tackle boxes out?  I have some old copper/tan planos but they aren't very versatile and are heavy.

The smallest box I use for smaller tackle is a plano 3500 box. Relatively small, but could be too big for a vest.

I use a soft side tackle system arrangement. I have a small insulated lunch bag that was given to me at a work-related event. I can fit several Plano 3450 boxes in it. In small jerkbaits I have the smallest Rebel, 4 Rapalas, and a dozen Yo-Zuris. One box. I have 10 Eppinger spoons, A dozen Super Dupers, 8 assorted spoons, a wee craw, crickhopper, and popper, 6 Yo-zuri tadpole looking cranks, and 2 SMALL squarebills in a second. I have another box devoted to inline spinners and yet another smaller box with numerous trout magnets. Along with spliy shot, leaders, snaps, and snap swivels they all sling over my shoulder and stay out of my way. Great streamside arrangement. If I am walking a bank for Bass in the summer, I can stick a 3450 box in the front pocket of a pair of shorts with Cargo pockets. I like to travel light when I can. I realize the original question was about a vest, but wanted to offer food for thought.

Orvis makes a small tacklebox on a lanyard.  It can hold 2-3 rapala's 07ish size and 4 inline spinners plus hooks grubs and nips. I love it.  Can't seem to find it online though!
