Reel For $100

Featured Replies

I can get a Shimano stradic 2500 fj for $90, or the 4000 for $100 through a work discount. Should I consider any other spin reels at this price point or a little more?

I currently own a 4000, but wouldn't mind changing it up for my other setup. Primarily using it for bass and pickerel in vermont/new england, sometimes pike. Pairing it with a 6'6" st croix MH fast action rod.

An FJ 2500 for $90?! No question, scoop it up.

And welcome to the forums.

The 2500 is more than sufficient. I watch my friend catch huge saltwater fish on that reel, that make bass look laughable,  with absolutely no problems

2500 is a good size, I actually like their old 2000 size better, but 4000 would be overkill for bass.

If you're fishing for Pike only out or Emerald Lake then MAYBE the 4000.  Even then the 2500 would work for 99.999999% of the fish in VT.
