Which Duckett Rod For Jerbaits/topwaters?

Featured Replies

I have a 7' MH, but its too stiff. Thinking about a a Ghost in Medium, or maybe another Micro Magic.... I want something under 7'. Thoughts?

Go for a medium fast. I would stay away from moderate tips because it will flex too much when you jerk it and you won't have as much control.

Thanks guys, but I was asking which POWER, not which ACTION. I guess I should have been more specific. Would a Medium power Duckett be too stiff for trebles?

When they say Medium Fast, they are saying a Medium power with a fast action.

I would assume that the power would be dependent on the size of what treble lure you are throwing.  I throw bigger stuff on a MH or even a H depending on size.

Held one last night at BPS not bad at all.

Would love to get a 6'6" for Jerk Bait. But doesnt look like the ghost comes that short 6'10" for MED action. have to go to regular Micro Magic.

7' rod im slapping the water from the back of my buddys boat.

Medium Fast = Medium power, fast action.. Maybe it is I who should've been more specific. Just tryna help man.

I see duckett doesn't advertise actions, how is anyone suppose to choose rods like that?

That's one reason I've never looked into buying one

I have a few Micro Magics it is hard to shop online for them due to that reason but when you feel them in person you just know its the one. Its kinda hard to explain lol. But even though it is hard to to find a "technique specific" rod from them it is definetley worth it they are some of the most versatile and sensitive rod I own and they are quite powerful rods

I would go with a 6'6 Micro but I havent held a Ghost yet or seen many reviews on them since they just came out so I cant say much of them

They have a 6'6" med rod for jerkbaits in the MicroMagic line.

If you check out the site sponsor valley sports, they have a list of the power and actions of the duckett rods.

The new Ghost 6'10" Medium is a great rod for this.

Also if you go to duckettfishing.com for each micro magic rod, it gives suggested uses. From what I've seen/heard duckett's are pretty soft rods.  You can always e-mail their customer service reps to get more information. Thats what I did when buying my 7'6 XH Duckett MM. They told me all the unlisted specs like overall weight and action.
