I should probably do this too. Never disassembled a reel or taken bearings out so Im a little nervous to start on this reel.

Yeah, glass rods are for treble hook baits. The softness and lack of sensitivity would make for a poor jigging rod. I agree with Fishguy, exchange would be your best bet. Unless you want to keep it for deeper diving crankbaits.

Yeah, the mono is more for the stretch to let the fish take the moving baits in a bit deeper before hookset. Yeah, I know the swim jig is kind of the odd man out in that setup, but I dont have a designated setup for it yet, so this is the best I can do for now. I don't use swimjigs a lot so its more for the bladed baits.

As the title says, I'm going to be using spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, chatterbaits, and swimjigs on one of my setups. What line would be best for overall? I was thinking like a 17# mono. My rod is a 7ft MH/F St croix Mojo bass.

I wouldnt necessarily go with a Rage either. I've messed around with one before. Yes they are very light and you can get good blank contact by the trigger, but the guides feel cheap and the threads above the reel seat interfere with the blank contact from the index finger (very uncomfortable in my opinion). I'm also looking for a cranking rod too. So any more info on the crucial would be nice

I may end up picking up a 5 power in the CB series down the road if theres a good sale as well. and yes I love that reel! I may check out the new curado instead of another ci4. not sure yet

I hear ya about the 5 power. I think I saw someone say in another thread that the 704cb is "THE" jerkbait rod according to Gary. So i figured Id stay in the 4 power but in the 6'8 since I like shorter rods for the those applications. I already have a 6.2:1 Ci4+ to go with my squarebill rod and will probably get another for the topwater/jerkbait rod.

I was looking at the 704cb but I am not super tall plus I prefer shorter topwater/jerkbait rods so I dont hit the water with the rod. I ended up getting both the 705CBglass and 684CB from Ron at Valley Sports.

Should of left it at "her baits". Sounded pretty comical.

Okay then. I guess that helps my decision. Might shell out the extra cash and pick up a 684CB for topwater/jerkbaits also

Can you throw lipless crankbaits on the 705CB glass rod?

Definitely leaning towards a 685CB, 705CB, or 705CB glass to pair with my ci4+. Going to be for squarebills and maybe lipless. Only reason I'm thinking 685CB is to make easier and accurate casts to all the laydowns at my cottage lake, but not sure that will give me the most versatility of the 3 rods.

Returned a rod and reel that I wasn't thrilled with. Now what the heck do I want to buy!?
