Tungsten weights

Recommended Posts

Does the painted tungsten weights diminish the sound and feel of these weights. From what i understand some the appeal of these weights over lead is they give off more sound and feel than there lead counterparts. So i was just wondering if the painted versions of tungsten weights hamper the qualities of these weights over the unpainted versions???

I havent noticed a difference.

I got a deal on a bunch of painted TT weights and they feel the same as unpainted tungsten to me.

If they do, I don't think it's enough for most people to tell the difference. Bass??? Even painted though, they are still far more sensitive than lead.

No difference.  Weights with a slick finish slide through weeds better.

go to Eco Pro Tungsten's website.  It will be hard for you to find a better value for tungsten anywhere.

Eco pro used to have a fantastic price.  They were the only place I bought from for a while.  They raised the price enough that they're pretty much on par with the other tungsten companies now.

If Eco is the same, is there any companys that stand out as far as price goes. Im looking to stock back up on all the sizes I use.

I have never experienced this, but it is my understanding that some tungsten weight are rough on the inside where the line passes through and will cause your line to break. That is why I have only bought Tru Tungsten. At any price tungsten is worth it.

Stay away from the weights that have the insert in them. You can thank me later.

Can you explain this please?? i bought some lake fork 1/2 oz weights at a local tackle shop that was going outta business for $2 and they have plastic inserts in them..Seemed like a good deal but i haven't used them yet and now am a little scared to. Will they fray the line or something?

They fall out, and the potentially sharp edges they are supposed to shield can nick your line.

Just fish them pegged. Most of the time the rough edges fray your line due to the unpegged sinker sliding up and down the line repeatedly, scraping off bits at a time.
