I'm thinking about a small 380 for a concealed carry weapon.   I want something small that can be concealed with just shorts and polo.  Living in Florida, most of the year is spent in summer wear.  Any recommendations  on make?

Glock 19 conceals just as well in shorts and polo. Just saying.

I have a Ruger LCP 380 that is small, sleek and probably just what you are looking for.

I just bought my wife the new Glock 42 .380 and it is one sweet shooter.  slides easily into pockets.  It's accurate and recoil is very tame.

You should post up how much you are looking to spend. That will narrow the field a bit.

X2 I have a P238 Equinox I carry sometimes.

As far as pocket carry, the LCP is smaller than the others mentioned here(in every dimension).  That being said, I am interested in the new Glock as well.  I am a little disappointed that Glock made it a single stack.  Guess they have to to keep it as small.

I had not seen that new Glock either. I will definitely be calling around tomorrow to see if I can get one in my hands. I would like to shoot it before I purchase. I am not a huge fan of shooting the LCP, too small for my hands. Hopefully this Glock will fit a bit better. I also see they released the Glock 41 at the same time.

She has a CC purse with a secret pocket you could put my AR in if you need to.   She carry's two extra clips in there.  

the LCP380 is the industry standard sort of speak of the 380 world. and probably the only one, I, personally would consider......UNLESS:

but with the Glock 42, they made a huge mistake making it a single stack, IMO.

from the pics and vids I have seen it is about half the size (maybe more) of a 26/27.

True. It could use more rounds. But its 9mm big brother has its back.

People seem to like the LCP, I had one and couldn't get rid of it quick enough.  The recoil is insane for a .380 and reliability was crap.  Sure it was small and light but when looking for my wife a gun reliability was high on my list so Ruger was out.  She fell in lust with the Glock 42 and I've doing nothing but working for ammo ever since. 

I have had 0 ftf's with mine with cheap range ammo all the way to good expensive ammo. But have heard stories. I am excited to try the glock as well.

everyone says the LCP is the 380 to get, IDK cause I have only shot 00mods for 2 mags worth. It seemed reasonable.

 

I would however, if you can swing it, get the new glock everytime, seems to be a sweet shooter and recoil is an issue when you get into the pocket carries.

At first I was disappointed in the G42, was hoping for a single stack 9mm from glock.

After I held and shot the 42 though I was impressed. Smooth shooter, same short reset as other glocks, and boring reliability as usual. Not as small as other .380's, some may not be able to pocket carry it.

why would you want a single stack glock 9mm?

 

I am guessing the 1911 frame 9mm are too big?

I've got the TCP (Taurus' LCP clone) and have had no issues with it. It stays in the truck just in case.

Another vote for the lcp. That is my warm weather off duty pocket gun. Only negative to the lcp is the sights suck. I painted them red to pick them up quicker. That being said it's a cqc gun so not that big of an issue.

I have a Keltec P3AT that has never given me issues other than being a bear to shoot. I only carry it when concealment is a huge concwern. that thing just disappears. I've had pocket knives harder to conceal.

 

It's certainly no range toy, but it'll get the job done when necessary.

I personally prefer the Ruger LCP, but that didn't exist when i got my P3AT. I have no need for 2 pocket pistols.

 

Honestly, unless you really need something super small for super concealment, steer clear of .380. There are so many micro 9's out there now, .380 just makes no sense anymore aside form super conceal pistols.
