Swimbait

Featured Replies

My tackle shop had a huge sale today and I purchased a couple different brands.  I bought the 3.8 Impact Fat, Little Dipper, and Skinny Dippers, and Swim'n caffeine shad .  I had some jig heads and a couple hooks laying around in the tackle box, but they don't seem to fit any of them very well.  I'm wondering how far back on the body the hook should come through?  I always thought it should come out in the back right before the tail starts? Yes, No? Also, maybe a good suggestion on a hook.  I looked around but it seems the bigger the hook the more it weighs and I will be using this 1-15ft.

I was recommended the Buckeye J Will swimbait jig head. They have a 5/0 hook and that's for any of the weights offered.

I usually look for the hook to come out right around the halfway point. Most fish that eat those little baits are going to inhale them pretty easily. You don't want a hook that's too long either because it will restrict the baits swimming action.

Exactly... Awesome hook and well designed jig head... Great for stand alone or A-rig
