So I bought myself a new spinning reel Thursday - Daiwa Lexa 2000SH.  I got this exclusively for light line - six pound mono and maybe take it down to four pound mono.  Of course this will be for Large Mouth Bass.  

 

 What I want to get know is a finesse spinning rod for it.  Something that flexes/bends and is suited for light  line in the four to six pound range.  I will most likely throw soft plastics with it, Texas rigged and Caroline rigged and split shots.  

 

 Any recommendations?  From what I understand, if you use very light line, you need a rod that has a lot of bend to it (slow?).  I guess that is what I'm looking for.

i just got a symetre fj3000 for my finesse stuff, gonna pair it with a carbonlite 6'8" MXF. im not going with as light a line as you, gonna use 8lb trilene sensation. I imagine the carbonlite will suit you well for those needs.

st. croix makes a fantastic spinning rod, I would check out either the mojo/premier/triumph. I have all three, The difference in performance is negligible so I would go with the 7'ML/F triumph, but the mojo also has some more technique specific set ups and is a split grip if you like them...

Carbonlite 6'9" ML fast. If there is some grass and weeds you might go Med. With the rod sale coming up and these being on sale you'll have money left over for some finesse baits and tackle. They are light, durable, and sensitive.

A ML *** would do the trick as well. Great value there.

I'd probably go with a St. Croix Mojo drop shot rod. It's 6'9" ML/XF.  The action has more to do with how quick you get into the power of a rod so this rod will have a very light tip  With the lighter overall power the rod the blank will flex easier which will offer you forgiveness with the light line and still keep pressure on the fish.

Just ordered one, and I think its going to fit the bill and budget nicely.  Played with it in store and ordered from a sponsor here on bassresource.  Lightweight and with enough backbone to drive the hook home.  I'm really looking forward to it this year.

 

I've also used Mojo's/Triumphs/Premieres in the past and wouldn't hesitate to do so again.  I've just got half of the Park Falls warehouse in my fishing room and decided to try more of these rods that are getting all the good hype.

 I was in Gander Mountain this evening and I was looking for medium light to light spinning rods and rated for 4 to 8 pound line.  I found a couple but every time I picked them up I said to myself "Will a five pound bass break this rod?"  

 

 So, can one of those slender rods rated for 4 to 8 pound line handle bass?

A medium light to will handle them just fine, provided you aren't in heavy cover. Just don't try to swing one into the boat or on to the bank like you might with a heavier rod.

why not the crucial have you had any problems with it?

You've got so many choices available.

 

I also have the Lexa 2000SH, currently it's on a St. Croix Avid, which has been whittled down from 6'3" to 5'9".

 

I plan to pick up a Carbonlite during the BPS rod trade-in. I've had one before, loved it. Don't think you can go wrong with one, but again, there are so many rods in your price range.
