I posted  a similar topic earlier but now know more about my set-up. I need a line for my 6'6 medium power fast action spinning combo that will be used for wacky-worms and hard jerkbaits. I'm debating between 10-12lb. fluorocarbon, or 20 lb. braid with a fluoro leader. Keep in mind that here in Minnesota the lakes I fish are all dirty and stained. I don't really need invisibility so much as i need sinking line that wont screw up the wacky worms action. I'd was going with the 12 lb. fluoro but am worried it may be too heavy for wackies..any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I like 10-15 lb braid with a 10+ ft 12 lb floro leader, it is the best of both worlds situation in my opinion...

I think youll b good with what you said. I,fish 8 pound fluro and 10 lbs braid on 2 of,spinning rods

If you want to stay with braid, and you don't want braid's tendency to float, I would suggest you try out Tuff-Line Hevicore.  It's a sinking braid.

I like braid as a main line. If anything I just like the manageability of it on a spinning reel. But braid to an fc leader is my favorite combo add far as line goes.

Yes many people reccomend braid with FC leaer for finesse fishing, but will this work well for jerkbaits?

I'll be honest, I'm just getting into hard jerkbaits so I'm not sure what I like yet, although I've read from some experienced jerkbait fishers that that is what they use

braid /w a fluoro leader will definitely be more manageable. if you want to go straight fluoro, stay around the 6-8# on a spinning reel. 10-20# braid /w a leader enables you to use a heavier fluoro leader. as for jerkbaits, i'm sure there are some that throw them on spinning tackle /w a leader but i prefer casing gear and using straight 10# fluoro/mono.

Braid with fluoro leader for jerkbaits work great.  I prefer the leader for better action.

A friend gave me some insight, and if I go straight fluoro, I'm going with 8lb. test.

eo, I haven't used the Hevicore, but I use other Tuff-Line braid almost exclusively.  I have a spool of 50# Hevicore that I will be trying out during the next several weeks on a trip to Mexico.

I like braid and fluoro for jerks, but being you want to use the same set up for wacky rigs I would go straight fluoro. It will be pick up slack line strikes much better than braid. Line watching helps too. I would go with the lightest line you can get away with, but be more focused on diameter than rated poundage. I think you will be fine with 10 lb.

My spinning rods all have braid (dont like it on my bait casters) I use a bait caster for my wacky/senko with 12# fluoro.  I use 15# for my jerk baits cause we have hybrids that really like the rouge on one of my main lakes that I fish.
