Powell Timax Reviews

Featured Replies

hi, i was wondering if anyone has gotten to use these rods yet? i know there fairly new but figured someone on here has to have one...

I haven't been able to find a review on them anywhere!  they look like a great series of rods and I'm real interested in trying one.

any reviews?

They are brand new. I'm sure they are great but aluminum handles seem like a pain when they would be wet.

I feel like a lot of people are staying away b/c of the aluminum handles.

The handles are cork. There's an aluminum sleeve on the split grip to aid in aesthetics and balance, but it's no different than any other split grip otherwise. There's not many reviews because it's a $400 rod from Powell. They don't have built in credibility like some other manufacturers to charge that much. I'm sure they're great rods though. I may try one eventually, just hope they don't raise the price like they did all their other models.

I'm sure they kept there rods at the lowest price possible for as long as they could , everything in life is going up . I love powell rods I have nothing bad to say about any of there models . I haven't had the chance to fish a timax rod yet but I'm sure it's a fantastic rod .

You can call Keith at powell rods and talk to him directly about the timax series I'm sure there's nobody out there that could answer your questions better than him

I'm a Powell fan and that's one thing that really helped me like them even more besides being a great rod. You can talk with the owner of the company and in my experiences he hasn't tried to be a salesman once. He's always helpful and nice anytime I've called. Heck we've just bs'd a few times and got totally sidetracked on what we initially started talking about.

I disagree with the credibility part...Powell has solid credentials and a proven reputation. I personally wouldn't pay $400 for a rod no matter what company made it...just me.
