actually in golf what happens is said pro hits the NIKE but still gets paid by Titleist, because he keeps a Titleist headcover on it.

 

like the ole "Talyor Made: the tours most used driver" it is false.... talyor made does however have the most headcovers out there, lol.

 

classic example is the late Payne Stewart. he was heavily sponsored by top flight, but if you ever looked in his bag you would have seen Mizuno sticks, but Payne wore the hat, shirt, carried the bag, headcovers ect ect of top flight. Why? because Mizuno didnt pay people to use their stuff, most of the pros at the time (late 80s through the 90s) were ALL hitting mizuno irons, because they were the best . even Tigger.

 

so it all boils down to use what you like and how you like it...... the pros do it for the money, except for maybe Amart, I really believe he loves his stuff and would change because he TRULY liked it better.

 

 

I am mainly talking about Tiger going from Titleist to Nike, and Rory doing the same. I don't know what was going on back in the  80's, I was just born, LOL.

fair enough JB.....the headcover vs what is actually played is still going on today,  and actually tiger played a lot of his early carrer playing the mizuno mp29s..... which is why when he signed with NIKE the VP (i think) of Mizuno went to work for NIKE. and the reason the early NIKE blades looked liked Mizuno.... and still do somewhat.

and the funniest thing about Tigger, is he won his first Master's hitting a Cobra driver..... and he never gave them any love. lol

I personally like the Ghost series. Even though they are ugly, use cheap guides and break easily. 

I bought 2 about a year and a half ago, and I really like them. They work for how I fish, and are comfortable in my hands. The 20 year warranty is assuring should I have an issue.

I bought and fished a duckett for awhile. I thought it was OK but didn't really wow me. I had an issue with the guides being weak. I eventually sold it and probably won't buy another. It's not that it was a terrible rod but I've fished better in the same price range. I had also heard of many breakages and warranty issues.

 The Duckett Rod's are great fishing rods. I have tried many, many rods through out the years and I'm sort of a fishing gear collector. I think the Duckett White Ice rod is leaps and bounds ahead of the Dobyn's. I hate kigan guides and the Dobyns are pretty much just over priced Powell rods imo.  I got a Dobyn's DX 745 after reading all of the internet hype and expected it to be the fishing rod that dropped straight from Heaven, It was far from that and I was not impressed, after fishing the Dobyn's for 30-60 minutes, I sat it down and picked my Duckett 7'3" Heavy White Ice back up. I doubt you would not like the Duckett. If you happen to get the Duckett let us know what you think.

 

 

P.S.  I am not paid anything at all by Duckett, I just love the product.

well i just got a ghost 7' for jigs. all i can say right now that its light and feels good in my hand. IM hopeing the sensitivity is pretty good.

When I think Duckett, I think of a fishing rod.  I must be a minority here.  I don't care about people.  At all.  I don't care if Bubba and Jim Bob don't get alone on the ABC bass tour. 

 

Is the product good or not.  Are Duckett rods junk or are they excellent?  I was thinking about picking up a Micro Magic CB rod, but all this talk has got me hesitant.  I also believe that the rod blank is 90% of the rod and I keep hearing that Ducketts use cheap blanks.

Great post. Unfortunately in the internet age, people are so consumed by the opinions of others, that they can't seem to come up with an opinion of their own. 

Personally I cant get on the bandwagon if the company cant even put a line or lure rating on the rod. Its worse to me than the low end rods that only say "medium action". thats kinda where I draw the line as far as highend and lowend.

I dont blame him. To many bad reviews to buy one. but, to many people judge on other peoples words

Im not even listening to the reviews. And yes I have never handled one. just like any other hobby there are too many competitors for me to worry about one company who wont come to the standard of others. while duckett might be a decent rod so are loomis, st croix, dobyns, and SOOO many others. so I will not lose any sleep because I wont give them a chance when there are so many choices that WILL list a line and lure rating.

there are also the people out there that really do know what they are talking about and you can scour the interwebs to find honest opinions.

these people have never steered me wrong and are knowledgeable enough at what they do when they told me a rod was XYZ and I ordered it, it was XYZ on the dot and exactly what I wanted.

 

I guess my point is, just cause people gather stuff from the net, doesnt mean its bad. You can easily find people if a guy wants to look....... if I look for reviews and see a very common theme in those reviews and its something I dont like or something that I prefer something else then I am not going to buy that product.

 

I dont think that makes someone a blind sheep, it just means there are people out there with the same views as me, or you, or anyone else. which is why we dont use all the same reels, rods, line, boats, ect ect.
