Black Max Parts

Featured Replies

Does anyone know a place online where someone could by baitcaster parts?  I have a Abu Garcia - Black Max actually have a couple of them, and they all have had anti reverse issues.  I am looking for somewhere to buy replacement parts or possible upgrades.

How have the worm  gears stood up on yours? I have 2 LH versions and one of mine just had the worm gear wear out. It now only winds line back on the right side of the spool. Had to take it out of the fleet. The other one of mine works just fine.

Go to the Pure Fishing website and look for the support link.

For the sketchy level wind, I'll bet is just a worn pawl. Replace it and you should be in business.

Please take this the right way because it's just advice.  I had a silver max myself and honestly it was a very good reel for 2 seasons.

However; the black max and silver max reels as well as most reels in their price range are designed to run a season or two then be disposable.  I think you may find that if you pay to buy a part, ship it and install it something else is going to break or something else will go wrong, etc.  There is not alot of return for repair on one of these unless it's sentimental.

You can buy a brand new one on Amazon right now for $32.

The AR in most of the ABUs are press fit and not replaceable. If you're comfortable taking the reel apart, flush the AR with Simple Green or Perfect Solution and rinse with hot water ad let dry completely. Swab a light coat of thin oil on the AR sleeve and see what that does. You ca also be sure the worm gear for the levelwind is free of debris and gunk.

Send me a pm with what you need I may have it. I had a blackmax reel that the worm gear crapped out on so took it apart and kept the parts.

I completely understand where you are coming from. However if I can spend some change or a couple dollars and get the part I need, I can fish a couple more months with it. Finances are tight and I take good care of the stuff I do have so for me right now I think the repair might be my best bet.

You never know, I am feeling good about this years tournaments. I may upgrade in a couple weeks. =)

Thanks for the tip.
