This is the cheapest unit with GPS and SI, and I am on a budget-is it worth the $450 or is the resolution to weak and the screen too small for SI?

Are you dead set on hummingbird? I believe Lowrance makes a model with similar features for less money. I would say get the best and biggest you can afford.

I would think that it'd be pretty hard to see much with the side imagining on a screen that small. I'd look into saving up for something bigger.

Look for 598's on amazon. They discontinued the 598 & 798 for the 698. 598's are under $600.

Agree with both comments. A small screen like that is good for 2d and that's about it. Overtons still has 798's in stock for $650 includes a $50 gift card. The 598's are $579
