What's the main difference between the 2?? Looking to get a new baitcaster. How do compare between the tournament speed spool that I own now.

BB2 is the exact same reel as the BB1 except it is wider so it can hold more line. It has internal centrifugal brakes compared to the BB1 Pro which has externally adjustable brakes. The BB1 pro however, is also made to hold a ton of line and it has a "braid ready spool". In my opinion, since I own the BB1 (which is pretty much the same reel as the BB2) and the BB1 Pro, I would pay the extra few bucks to get the BB1 Pro.

Okay thanks. I am buying from tackle warehouse since they're running a tax sale.

I would not get the bb2.. Holds 190 yards of 14 lb line. That is a ridiculous amount of line and the spool will weigh close to 2 oz when full which in turn will give you less casting performance with anything that weighs less than 3/4 or 1 oz. The bb1 pro holds 160 yds of 12 lb which is still a bit ridiculous, but not as crazy as the bb2. I would honestly get neither unless you are using it for deep cranking or swimbaits.

Would you recommend the tournament speed spool then ? I like Lew's so I would prefer to stay with them.

The tournament speed spool is nice and a step up from that is the tournament pro. It's a great reel.

Do you have any previous experiences with lew's reels? That could help narrow it down.. For the money, you can't beat the t3b at TW right now at $100

I own a tournament speed spool right now.

What's the difference in them 2??

I would get the bb-1 pro my buddy has one and its casts so far and weighs only 6.5oz  while holding 160 yards of 12lb test. yes compared to other lew's reels it is a little bigger, but trust me you wouldn't regret it

It's really not much but worth it. The TP can be had for $150 online. It's got 1 more bearing, carbon fiber handle, better spool and gear material, and it's a good bit lighter. You haven't mentioned what you'll be using it for yet. If the majority of your use will be with lures in the 1/4-1/2oz range then the bb1/bb1 pro isn't the best choice. As already mentioned. Unless you are using the reel for cranks or swimbaits, there is no need to hold 160 yards of line. That's 120ft of line that you won't ever use. More line is more weight which equals heavier spool that's not good for lighter baits.

I mainly throw 3/8 oz jigs with trailers and up. I don't throw anything 1/4 oz often enough. I barely throw them that light.

There really is no difference between the tournament pro and tournament except really for weight like rippin said. If that is a concern of yours then go with the pro and if not save a few bucks and just get the tourney. The bb's are nice reels for applications where you are really trying to zing a bait way out there. The 2 is lew's answer to throwing big heavy baits. They had the super duty already but I think it's blah in a way cause of only having mags. I think that is why they made the 2. People don't want to backlash a 3oz bait and send $20 or even way more to the bottom of the lake.

How much farther would you think a bb1 pro would throw over a tournament. I like throwing farther out because I fish from the banks most of the time.

What line are you using? For braid, I'd go with the tourney pro. For heavier fluoro or mono (over 15lb) I would go with the bb1 pro.

I'll be running braid. I thought that since the bb1 pro have a braid ready spool wouldn't it be better for braid ?

The bb1 pro holds 12/160. That means it holds 248 yds of 30 lb braid.. That is a LOT of line and you will find that it will need to use a lot of backing to get 2 spool fulls of 1 package of braid. That would mean a lot of extra weight.

As far as the difference in casting there is a lot of factors so I can't give some kind of exact number. I can say with a bait you can really get in to and let the rod load up and launch it the bb will cast farther. It seems like the bb might be a better choice for you if your are really trying to whip a bait out there. They are all nice reels and you can't really go wrong with any of them.

I run 50 lb braid. Wouldn't that be 160 yards then ? Isn't 50 lb same size as 12 mono.

Yeah I usually whip them out there because I'm usually fishing from the bank. I fish occasionally from a boat but usually from bank.

I bought Sufix 832 300yd on sale split it between CHCI4 & BB1 Pro. Put around 250 feet of 10#mono backing with around 450feet (might be 500' anyway a lot) of 20# 832 braid on my BB1 Pro. I run straight braid no leader so it gets used and will add backing when needed. Plus will turn line around after each season til I whittle away down to 150 feet or so then get new line. Dont like throwing passed the connection knot. I think Ill be set for quite some time, likes years.

I read up on both and the braking system on the BB1 Pro is the main difference I see. If I were you, I'd look on Ebay as well. I've found few retailers that have better prices on these reels......actually none. I love TW but if they can't beat the price then they can't. I save money when I can! Good luck.
