So whats with the Risto Rap from Rapala?

Featured Replies

Ive seen these go for some good money($8-$12 each) on Ebay. Anyone know whats up with these things? Are they collectible or are they fish catchers(or both)?

Discontinued I believe. I have a few, they are OK.  Not better than the DTs.

Is it because they are discontinued, that they sell for so much?

You're not gonna find another one like it.

Man I wish they still made the Risto.  Killer smallie lure.

really popular up here on a couple of our lakes, its was a Tonka special lure, so guys up here that tourney fish are always looking for em.

I have 12 I use and another 60+ stored new in the box. It's a good crank, just as good as the DT IMO. My favorite is a special that is chartreuse with black back that is a killer and has caught me a lot of bass.

The famous Shad Rap mated to a Fat Rap and the offspring was the Risto Rap, or a chubbier version of the Shat Rap. Those baits are good, they 've been discontinued for around 9-10 years.  those who used them now want them: I got maybe 100 of them in different sizes and colors @ 2.00 bones a pop it was hard to resist the temptation. :(
