Fishin Soft Swimbaits?

Featured Replies

Can anyone give me pointers on fishing soft swimbaits like flukes fluke jr cafeine shads from KVD style baits?

Weighted, not weighted, weighted with a specific style weight?

Any info will be great

Well, I'll start you off with something simple:

I am using a Moaner 1/4 oz weighted hook http://www.moanerhooks.com/the-stroker-hook/ on Shadalicious and

Berkly Hollow Belly swimbaits. You DO NOT work the baits, they provide all the action by themselves.

Depth is basically a function of retrieve speed which will vary. Cast them in and around structure

and cover. It's that simple.

thanks man i appreciate it!

My personal favorite after trying many different ones are the new missile baits shockwave for a smaller profile and either the money minnow or the shadalicious. I use a 5/0 ewg worm hook with a tungsten bullet weight for conditions and a 7/0 trokar mag swimbait hook on the 5 inch money minnow. I've found that the swiming flukes don't stay on the hook very well

I purchased some 3/0 VMC Heavy Duty Swimbait hooks with twist lock springs and 1/8 oz weight and some 4/0 swim max swimbait hooks no weight just the twist lock spring, none of the swimbaits i have are very large i figured 3 and 4/0 would be fine

Ill be trying these out tomorrow.  First time fishing a swimbait.

Swimbait success,  first time out with them,  went out this morning with the Strike King Shadilicious, hooked up on only one small one in two hours but I was determined to get something.  Swimbait virgin no more.
