I like red hooks myself. They give me a lot of confidence especially on clear lakes where the red is flashy. I think it looks like the bait/lure is injured. Great for minnow baits like jerks.

i read from an article somewhere that the red hooks resemble the gills of baitfish and/or can resemble bleeding baits , i personaly only use red hooks because those are the only hooks at my walmart made for t-rig stuff and they work very very well.
