Carolina Rig Reel

Featured Replies

Looking for a good reel for my carolina rig set up. Something that can really get the bait way out there. Plan on putting 30lb braid on it. I was looking at the Bass Pro Johnny Morris Signature Series reel. Havent ever used one but heard good things and they are having a sale on them right now. I have a Abu Garcia Revo SX for my lipless crankbait set up that i absolutely love and thought about getting another one of them. Just wanted to get some ideas or opinions on what reels you guys have used. Thanks!

Any reel should be do the job. The SX or JM series would be fine. I recommend using a high speed reel. I don't throw a C-Rig that much, but the combo's that I use both have a Lews Tournament Pro w/ 7.1:1

Don't need anything too specialized for a C-rig other than I'd suggest a high speed reel to pick up line quickly. I use a 200E7 Curado on mine but I didn't buy it specifically for C-rigging. I'd probably just get a 7.1 Pro Qualifier if I was going to buy one just for C-rigging.

Agree with above. i think the most important thing is a 7.1:1 gear ratio for picking up line. if you have a long rod you can make up some ground in a hurry. i think that is more important than say brand/top tier classification.
