Guys.. This was an explosion like Iv never experienced before. In the neighborhood I fish in, theres about a dozen ponds scattered around. All have different characteristics, theyre not all the same thing. Well, recently I started fishing one the ponds that I had never previously tried to fish before. Judging by the way the said pond looks, and the bite Iv been experiencing  I decided to tie on my bronzeye frog. I dont have a lot of confidence in the frog, being that Iv owned one for about a year, and caught my first fish on it tonight.I tied the frog on, and decided to cast it along the bank, just to see if I could shake the dust off my "dog walking" skills. Not even 15 seconds of walking it, WHAM!! I made a hookset like I never have before. Sheer excitement. I was shaking trying to get the lure out of the fishes mouth. Its not the biggest fish Iv ever caught, weighing in at 3lbs. 7oz. but its my first frog fish and Im very proud of it. Needless to say, I wanna catch another!!

Congrats on your first frog fish! Frog fishing is one of if not the most exciting way to fish. You are going to witness so many remarkable blow ups.

My advice is always be focused because you can go for hours and hours without a strike and then the second you lose focus that big girl is gonna want a ride on your line and you will miss her because you weren't focused.

Good luck when you gain more confidence there are tons of other brands and types of frogs to choose from

Sounds like you know a thing or two about frogs Jax. What's the best kind to use? Hollow body's or the poppin frogs?

Ponds and frogs go together like PB&J  

 

You might try the Spro Popping Bronzeye if you have confidence in regular poppers. It's not as much of a stretch to transition from normal poppers to a frog that way. That fish certainly wanted that frog though! First thing I'd suggest is switch to braid, best change I've ever made for frogs. 

Congrats and welcome to the club! Besides being good, now you know why so many of us love frogs so much! I know you asked about other frogs, and I've found Booyah to be every bit as good as the Spro for a lot cheaper. There's other good ones out there too, don't get me wrong but the Pad Crashers seem to be the best bang for the buck. As far as choosing a popper or regular, a popper is going to work better in dingy water or water with a little chop on it. It'll cause more commotion and let the bass find it easier. A regular frog is better on those flat calm days and when the water is clearer.

Surprisingly no.. It was litterally about a foot to two feet off the bank in less than probably two feet of water, where I had just previously been running squarebill cranks lol. Like I said, I was just trying to refresh my walking skills. Didnt expect to get a hold of that chunk.

Good deal, it's always nice to get an unexpected gift. It's like finding that 20 you left in your pocket like a month ago.

Frog!

She def. wanted it for sure. I went out again today and threw the frog, and had a little bass take it but couldn't follow through with a good hookset.

There was no doubt about that fish wanting that bait

It's just ridiculous the size of the maws on these fish. Makes a nice 24oz beer can coozy ;-)
