Falcon Rods

Featured Replies

Im looking for a falcon flipping stick 7ft to 7ft6 heavy. Something with a lot of backbone and the ability to punch if need be. I will be throwing 3/8, 1/2oz and maybe 3/4 jigs on this rod. I was looking at the cara t7 ( CC-7-173S. Cara Amistad.)  Let me know what you guys think.

While I don't have any experience with the rod you're asking about I do however own a Falcon Expert 7'6" flipping stick. Falcon discontinued this line of rods for some reason but nevertheless the one I have fishes great. It's light, has very good sensitivity, and the action of this particular flipping stick is one I've not been able to find in any others I've tried. The action fits perfectly with the small amount of stretch in fluoro making for a really nice flipping rod and a very enjoyable experience, IMHO of course.

If you like Falcon rods then by all means don't worry about picking this one up. Falcon makes a very nice stick, I'm not sure why they aren't mentioned more.

Not sure either. Normally I go with dobyns but I got a really nice price on that rod through a distributor.

I'm a big fan of the amistad. I don't do any punching here on Table rock but it's a great 1/2-5/8 oz. jig rod.. Also can throw the 3 wire a-rigs on it..

A majority of my rods are Falcon Cara's, I was just looking at that very rod yesterday.  It is a nice stout rod, and would work well for your heavier jigs, you could even throw frogs with it.  I don't do much punching so my experience is limited on what would make for a good punching rod.
