Picky Bass

Featured Replies

I live in north east Georgia and I fish a lot of small ponds. At my pond the only bait I've been able to get to work consistently has been a size 7 rapala floating minnow. There are some big bass in the pond but they won't take the minnow.Any suggestions for baits to use for the larger bass?

I've been having the same problem it seems the feeding is slowing down or something because 1 month ago it was wide open

Fish during low light and on rainy/cloudy days, big pond bass get REALLY smart. I would try something new that you haven't showed them before

Hard to beat a Senko for big, finicky pond bass. Rig it weightless on a spinning rod with braid. Walk softly, stay low, be quiet, wear natural colors, and make long cast. Catching big pond bass is really almost as much hunting as it is fishing at times.

Agreed. The only fish I've caught in the last week here in Douglas County have been on Senkos and a few on other plastics fished slowly.  I'm thinking about having another go at it today.  The weather has stabilized a bit after the cold and rain of last week.
