Which is a better gear ratio for a reel that I'm going to only be using for jigs and soft plastics? Which do you prefer

I want a curado I but I dunno which gear ratio I want yet

I have the same reel, and I went with the 7:1. I use mine for a different application but remember you can always slow down, and if you need to reel in quickly you know the speed is there. 

Yeah I've been leaning towards the 7.1 but I might occasionally use it for square bills and for that I like a 6.4...

The first time I used a 6.3 ratio spinning reel by the end of my trip I felt like my arm was going to fall off. I was more worried about one arm looking like Popeye over the other. But like said above I needed to slow down with it. Now I adjust my line speed by eye as I seen my lure I'm ok with it now.

I use E 7 Curados for everything except cranking.  G-5 for that.

for your purpose I like 7.1:1 but for a rod that is for all round use I prefer the 6.4:1 for it's versatility. In reality I doubt many notice a big difference in 3" per turn of the handle, which is all there is with my Lew's bass size reels. But take advantage of it for burning Buzz baits, spinner baits, Rap's, and picking up slack in deep water, what little it is. For big Cranks I do prefer the 5.4:1 and fighting big fish in heavy cover!

I would def go with the 7.1 for the same reason Bassin said. I only use slower reels for stuff that I have to make sure I'm not reeling too fast like cranks.

Either are fine and a matter of personal preference.

For jigs and soft plastics,ill use a 7 gear ratio.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I'm gonna pick up a 7.1 when I get the chance, I guess it is a lot easier to slow down with a fast reel than to speed up with a slow one...
