Best Jig Rod For $100 Or Less

Featured Replies

Alright I would like to throw a rod that is dedicated to just jigs and I'd like to stay around $100 or less. I mainly throw 1/2oz or 3/8 jigs. I was considering either the 7' 3" H abu garcia veritas or the skeet reese jig rod. What do you all think? Thanks!

I believe the veritas comes in a 7ft heavy and the 7ft 3 is MH, rated up to 1oz. Im happy with my veritas rods and abu customer service is exceptional

I believe they are even 69.97 at Dicks Sporting Goods or 79.99 elsewhere right now

Yes I own 3 of the veritas rods and I own two of the wright&mcgill rods. I love both of them. That's y I am so torn between what to do

I'd go with the veritas, you should also check out the Fishing Flea Market on this forum. Great deals all of the time. You may be able to get a Duckett, Powell, or something else on there for around $100.

I have never used a duckett but I have held them. They seem like great rods. Definitely something I would consider but with buying 3 revos and 4 rods already this year now I find myself on a budget. I will check it out though

I would also look at the *** *** Black rod...

I was looking at the veritas and they have a 7' 11" heavy rod. Do you think that this is just too much rod. Would I be better with a rod that is 7' 6" or even shorter?

duckett ghost maybe. also look at the lamiglas excel 2. ive read theyre pretty stout im thinkn bout trying one

I personally like rods under 7'4. If you're going to be flipping a longer rod may be good. I like shorter rods for pitching.

The 7'11" will work, but I find it to be too stiff of a rod. I throw my jigs on a 7'4" heavy with a moderate fast tip if I am flipping them in moderate cover. I use a 7'6" heavy if I am casting and working ledges, and I use a 7'6" Heavy flippin stick if I'm flipping into heavier cover.

Bass Pro has the Johnny Morris Carbonlite rods on sale right now.  I have a 7' MH/F and love it for jigs.

I have several MH 7' rods. I just don't feel like they have enough backbone to set a hook like I would like

I'm with you on this one. I even throw my texas rig on a heavy power rod. I think in that price range I would look at the *** *** 7'3" Heavy and the Duckett Ghost 7'3" Heavy.

Yes I looked online an found both of those rods for $100 and free shipping. At my local sporting goods store they are $150 of course. Their usually really competitive...
