I bought a rod of ebay.it is an abu Garcia orrex. it looks like the top12 inches was taken off and a new tip put on, the rod was a medium heavy,is this still okay for fishing. It doesn't have much action anymore

    12 inches missing.........I'll bet there's no flex anymore. Without flex, you could try it for catfish, maybe strip it down and use the parts as replacements for another rod?

    12" gone, the rod will still have the same power rating (medium heavy backbone), but your tip action went to mag fast..
