Rage Tail Problems

Featured Replies

Has anyone had problems with their Rage craws? I've had problems of the claws falling off while casting without ever having a fish on them. straight from the package. I love my Rage baits but they're $8.00 a package and I'm on a fixed budget. I don't want to jump ship

No, but I'm usually pitching them instead of casting.

Where are you shopping that they charge you $8 a pack? Not for nothing, but you're getting ripped off at that price.

I have never had that issue, and $8 is kinda steep..the only problem I have with the rage stuff is I can't buy enough of them!

I have fish bite the claws off all the time, but never on casting them. I can't imagine how hard I would have to cast to achieve that.

Yea... Never... I have sometimes had them bit off by fish. No worries I have seen lots of craws with one missing ! 8$ is way high.. I have trouble getting my fave color.... Never tore them on cast/ flip/ pitch.. Typical wear & tear issues only.

I know $8 is high. There is only one family tackle shop that sells them and all their prices are marked up 20%. The only other option is to order them from the states. Which when you add up the shipping and extra taxes they're the same price.

I gotcha.... Well good luck!

Happy fishing

I have the same problem with the craw chunks.  Maybe the craw lineup is less durable?  I wouldn't know because after purchasing a few packs of the craw chunks I swore I'd never buy another Rage Tail product again.  Baits with a high degree of mechanical motion built in have no business being made from ultra soft plastics.

^^^ Silly boy ;)

I have never had any kind of problem with any Strike King plastics.

I use both the craws, and chunks on a very regular basis. Iv never had a problem with the appendages falling off straight from the pack.

i have never had that problem either. i get multiple fish on all my rage tail plastics. ive even flipped them upside down and fished them, torn some off the end to get fresh hook spots on a t-rig, and fished them with one claw or no claws where bass or bluegill bit them off and still caught fish on the rage craws and baby rage craws. but still, never just had a claw fly off on the cast...

I catch multiple fish with no problem. I've also seen bass annihilate craw imitators with one claw missing. Change it out and deal with it or leave the one on.

Drake, I've never heard of that problem up to this point, but have heard of shore fishermen touching a limb or grass on the backswing of their cast causing a claw to tear off.

TorqueConverter, The Chunk is actually made from an even firmer plastic than the Craw to hold up onto the hook of the jig better as well as for punching grass etc. Claws flying off on a cast have not been a problem to date. Now fish chewing them off is another story ;)

They are soft but have never had one come off on the cast. I still catch them on one claw.

The rage craw is my bait of choice everyday and almost all day. I've lost a claw due to fish but never on a cast. I also have my own little trick to keep them from sliding down the hook and from getting torn up quicker. I typically get about 5-6 fish per craw. Unless sometimes they are real acrobatic when being brought in and I lose a claw during the show.

TorqueConverter - the soft plastic is where the action comes from. It's a fair trade off for a bait that works so well.

Bass prefer a craw with one claw. If you want a more durable craw get the strike king ones that are made from the elaztech material
